Best way to stamp a bag?

Ok..so I am a sucker who will find a way to turn even the most useless,mundane item into something. Today at the doctor's office, I was given a sample of a particular type of birth control that came in a very pretty black/hot pink canvas bag. It's a small bag, but one that's big enough to use for a smallish purse and I'd like to stamp something on it, but I'm not sure where to start. What's best for stamping on canvas? Regular ink? Fabric paint?
