We're very prone to them. I spent a lot of time nursing one on my last WDW trip. :worried:

Suggestions on blister prevention would be much appreciated!

Just spent 2 weeks at WDW and for the first time had no blisters. All I did was wear a great pair of Saucony runners I had just purchased, thin lt weigh socks and the best part...used body gilde on the bottom of my feet everyday. It keeps the area dry so there is no rubbing and friction......the best $12 I ever spent.

It can be used anywhere on the body where rubbing/chafing may occur.

Proper fitting shoes are really important. I had a ton of blisters when I went (they started the first full day) and I found out my shoes were too small. Got new shoes in a bigger size, no blisters.

I highly recommened getting some cool-max socks--they whick away the sweat (which can also cause blisters).

moleskin or bandaids for hot spots. Moleskin works great if the hot spot is not on a toe, but for me bandaids work best around toes. I also like to put Neosporin + pain relief on toe hot spots for the pain.

Keeping your feet dry helps alot. I also wear shoes that are worn in alittle. And take at least 2 pairs for the park, I change after our breaks.

DUCT TAPE! I just put pieces where I usually get blisters and it works. I got the pretty purple kind at Walmart so I look festive walking around the hotel! :jester:

The best fitting sandals I've found are Tevas - they have velcro adjustable straps both at the toe area and the ankle. If your feet start swelling during the day they can be adjusted as often as you need.

My sister wears socks with her Tevas on cooler days and that works fine for her. I just refuse to wear socks with any sandals - lol.

I've worn them every day for 10 day - to two week trips at WDW and never had a blister or sore area - even the day when it rained non-stop, the sandals were completely wet and my feet were the pruniest I've ever experienced in my life.

They also didn't require ANY breaking in period ahead of time.

I just returned from my first blister-free trip to WDW!!!

In the past I've always ended up with, on average, 5 or 6 on each foot. This time I used a tip I read here on the DIS and smeared Vaseline all over my feet, including in between my toes, before I put on my socks and tennies. Voila! No blisters!!

I will do this every trip from now on and hopefully won't be limping around WDW anymore! ;)

This is going to sound strange, but I just read recently that spraying anti-perspirant on your feet prevents blisters! (Probably similar to using Body Glide, I would guess?)

I also used to always get blisters every single trip and would be miserable by day two.

First I discovered moleskins which helped me a bit especially after I got blisters.

Then I switched from sneakers and socks to sandals; I just couldn't stop getting blisters with them no matter what I did. I wear Teva Pretty rugged or Ecco Cosmos; both are GREAT to walk in all day and all week.

Then I bought Bodyglide and also Blistershield.

This past August trip I got no blisters and no chafing!!! I used Bodyglide on my feet with Teva feet...not one blister. I used Blistershield on my legs where I chafe and I didn't chafe at all this past August trip.

I'm a happy camper....I never even needed my moleskins this trip!!! That's a first.

but comfy, good support ones.
My honeymoon I got a blister on the sole of my foot that was HUGE. I had bought cute new white tennies. THIS trip, I bought new shoes a month ago and started breaking them in. crossing my fingers

Spraying deodorant/anti-perspirant on your feet before putting on your socks and shoes works!! We have done this every trip and never had a blister!

I have relatives that just did the 3 day walk for breast ccancer and in addition to the good shoes and good socks they said to keep hydrated! they alternated water and gatorade both on the walk and in training. Kept them blister free both in training AND on the 60 mile walk. Both are in their 50s so we're not talking the most elastic skin here. ;)

For walking nothing can beat tevas. When they get wet they arent ruined they have a nice think sole so rough surfaces are no problem and i have never had a blister with them.

If you already have blisters or are prone to getting them the bandaid blister blockers and the bandaid blister healing line is great. These are simliar types of bandages to what we use in the hospital to heal wounds.

The only thing *and cheap too!* that stopped my blisters was plenty of moleskin.

I pre cut it into pieces and carry some in my pockets. I usually put a piece on any location that's prone to blisters, but the moleskin works fine for hot spots or areas that are feeling worn and raw.

Hopefully we can buy some Bodyglide and Moleskin at Publix when we get there! Never heard of bodyglide before, but it's now on my list of grocery stop must have items :Pinkbounc !

Bodyglide is available at hiking and sports stores. Even www.REI.com has it.

Blistershield is available at sports stores.

Bodyglide looks like a deoderant stick.

Blistershield is like a round roll on deoderant stick. It's a bit more greasy than Bodyglide and that's why I use it for chafing between my legs and use Bodyglide for my feet and they BOTH work GREAT!!!! I can't say enough about them.

They are interchangable too. You certainly can use Blistershield on your feet and Bodyglide between your legs.

NO MORE BLISTERS!!

I wear a comfy pair of sneakers and a good pair of all weather sandals (I wear Nike Straprunners, which I like a lot). I've never had a blister!

I wonder if some people are just more prone to blisters since I don't think I'm doing anything real different than most people do (and I'm not talking about the people in the bad shoe clubs lol).

I used the Blistershield powder the last 2 trips
and it worked awesome. You take about a
teaspoon of the powder and put it in your sock
and shake it up then just put your sock on.
It was very easy and comfortable to use.
Good luck.
