Best way to POP from Boardwalk area

If we are lucky enough to secure an Illuminations cruise, what would be the best way to get 8 people back to POP after this ends? I know we could walk back through Epcot to the front and catch a bus but wondering if there is a better way.

If MGM is still open (or just closed), you can take a bus from there.

I have heard of Illuminations boat drivers dropping people off at MGM. Maybe he could do that for you if you treat him nicely and give him a big tip

We stayed at Pop last summer and had an Illuminations Cruise one night. Our boat driver called someone to see what time MGM closed and then dropped us off there. We caught the bus back to POP from there. Fantasmic had not yet gotten out yet so we beat the crowds no problem.
