Best Way to Modify A Weeks Worth of ADRs?

My reluctant FIL decided he wanted to join us in October for our trip. I had previously booked a weeks worth of ADR for 8 now I need 9. What is the best way to do this? Should I use MDE, call in or am I screwed and have to start over? — (Secret 4th option - making him eat PB&Js for a week on a bench while we eat at all the great places I secured at 180 days out at 6am)

First try online to modify each ADR, if that doesn’t work, do try a reservation for 2 around the times you already have booked, they might be able to sit you altogether, this last option is risky. Good luck.

I think that it is important to remember that larger parties may be split at any WDW restaurant. They always try to keep the group together but we have been seated at different tables several times.

Just wanted to say that secret option 4 cracks me up. Good luck modifying your reservations. It will be worth it in the end but I feel your pain! People have no idea how complicated Disney planning can be. Have a great trip!!

And don’t forget you can always show up with less people, so I would give you option 5: Tell your husband to take FIL to dinner and you can keep your ADR. Not out of despise, it is a true option, I have been in your position and it worked, specially because my husband doesn’t mind.

We had to do this for ours and we are still trying. We were a party of 5 and my Dad added his girlfriend after we did all of our ADR's, so now we are 6 people. My sister called initially and we were able to add 1 person to 5 out of our 8 ADR's. I am still checking each day for the other 3 and even if we aren't able to add 1, I will check up until the day of because people cancel the closer it gets and it is a lot easier finding ADR's the day before or the day of.

So, as an alternative to option 4, could anyone else in your party eat PBJ's on a bench instead? My DS11 would probably LOVE to take that hit for the team. I think really that's your best option even without an alternative PBJ eater.

Others have given good tips- try to modify as your first line of action. Try a separate ADR for 1-2 people at the same time or as near as you can get as your second line (the system seems to favor parties of 2 and not know what to do with a party of 1 sometimes).

I feel your pain- for our August trip, the grandparents were telling us to not include them for dinner ADRs because they would probably be back at the hotel by then. It ended up being the lunch ADRs they skipped (in favor of pool time) and on night two we were standing at Epcot about to go to the QS in Mexico when my father checks Biergarten for an ADR and can't believe they can't get a party of 8 in before 9 PM same- day. He goes to Disney more than I do, and he knows better.
