What the best way to get one person from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to MCO? DME is not an option and there will be no rental car. Is a taxi the best option? How far in advance should we arrange for the taxi?

At this point I do think that is your best solution. I know that WDWtoday podcast did a whole show on outside of Disney transportation. I would look around and get a couple of prices. I also think that the unofficial guide to Disney has a couple of options in their book.

Your only remaining options are town car or taxi. I would go town car.

Is a town car economical for just one person?

Nope, but it's generally cheaper then a taxi would be. With a a town car service you have a flat rate while with a taxi if you get stuck in traffic the meter keeps running. It can mount up QUICK!

The only 'economical' method is DME which you won't take. Mears no longer does Disney.

It's a can't, not a won't on the DME. We loved it the only time we've taken it before, but it's not an option this time. Which is too bad because it's so convenient.

I'll have to re-read that section of the Unofficial Guide. I skimmed it last time because we used DME.

Thanks!!

I'm going for business and my finace is coming with me for the first part of the trip. They are providing transportation for us, so they will pick us up from the airport. He is leaving earlier than me and probably won't be able to get back to the airport the same way (it's a remote possibility that he could, but unlikely).

A taxi might be easiest...

OK. I still don't get why you can't use ME. My boyfriend left Disney before me on his last visit. We just had the front desk folks arrange ME for him. No biggie that I was staying longer or that he hadn't used it coming to the resort or even arranged his departure until we arrived.

Really?!?! That would be great if we could do that. :cool1: I'll have to ask at the front desk when we get there! :scratchin That would be perfect... I really hope that works out! A taxi could be the backup plan if for some reason he can't do that!

Worked for us this past August. No problem I think it will work for you!

I know everything I have seen says you can use ME one way and you definitely don't both have to leave at the same time. My sister is coming in one day after us and leaving one day earlier and we are all using ME.

As long as he spends the night at AKL, he is entitled to a ride to the airport! :thumbsup2

On check in, tell the front desk the dates you will need ME for each of you to MCO. They will hook you up with reservations. :)

As long as you're listed on a reservation at a WDW operated resort you're eligible for DME. You don't have to be on the same flight and you have the option of using it one way.

The only issue is famlies that go over the room occupancy limit.

We used ME one way on our last trip. No problem whatsoever. For your peice of mind, I would make arrangements on your arrival so that you will know in plenty of time. You can always call for a cab at the last minute if you really needed one.
