Best way to make room request during pandemic? (BLT in particular)

I used to call or chat, but that is not feasible. Last time I emailed (during the pandemic) for a different reason, they didn't get to my email for a couple of weeks. Does Touring Plans actually still send a fax and does that actually get seen these days?

First world problems, I know.

I just emailed Member Services directly with my reservation number and asked that my requests be noted on the reservation. I have gotten my requests or very close to them 3 times during the pandemic (last August, April, this past week). I get an email response back from them a few weeks later saying it was received and noted but not guaranteed.

From what I have read on here, Touring Plans sends an email, not a fax. As far as I know, they are still providing that service. Whether you will have better luck using them or sending an email yourself, I have no idea.

If you send an email yourself, it's free. If you want to use the Touring Plans service, you have to pay $17.95 for a Touring Plans subscription.

Honestly, I've stopped making requests, other than occasionally using the options available through online check-in. I find I enjoy my stay more when I get to find something to enjoy about my room, rather than the anxiety of worrying about whether I'll get the "perfect" room or the disappointment of not getting my request.

I email through the member site. That way you can just send it whenever you want.

I have sent an email to MS through the web site and I have also used the chat feature on MDE app.

After you log in to your dashboard, just wait a bit, do something else while you keep an eye on it. The chat option will come back.

This is us now. The only request I ever make, when I travel alone, is not first floor. Other than that I figure it can be a surprise!! Plus, if we are arriving at the resort earlier, even if I have done online check in, I always go to the front desk, tell them we are now there, and that we will take any room that will become available sooner rather than later...even if I choose that during online check in.

I use Touring Plans. Has been relatively close every time I use it. I just did one for our Sept trip. I don't always. If I want room ready early I don't make any room requests. But this trip we'll be arriving late so no worries about having room early and would rather be easy in/out of BCV for F&W so I chose 1st floor room near exit to path. They send request to Disney at 30 days out.

TP does do the fax. I have had decent success though my trip last month didn't get close. The location was still great, but just not what I requested.

It was reported here quite some time ago that Touring Plans now emails the request 30 days out, and faxes are no longer used.

Okay - I never saw that. TP mentions a request will be sent but they don't mention the method. I should have written the wording to read they do 'send' the request in some format.
