best way to make request?

sorry,I know I've read somewhere on the boards...can't locate...what is the best way to make a request again for a room type? like NOT near the pool..... by phone? online? how far ahead?

You call CRO. You can make a request from the time you make your reservation until 3 - 5 days before check-in, when the computer rolls them over to the resort.

We have been going to WDW for 12 years now, sometimes 2x/yr and have never had a request filled-we put it on our initial ressie and I call before we go and they say yup it's there, we get there and they say no request seen here.

So I give up and just roll with it now.Usually it was about location.Now they are almost always pref sections since they changed things lately so it doen't matter anymore I guess
