Best way to get to Universal

Sorry if this is a repeat thread. So far it looks like MEARS is going to be the best cheapest way to get to Universal from Pop Century. There is only going to be 2 of us. Has anyone else used them for this? Does it take forever to get there using them, or are the stops minimal? Are they pretty reliable and on time? How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Also if anyone has any other suggestions on how to get there I'd love to hear them. We are trying to avoid renting a car.

You can call them and book the day before you want to go. I understand the ride there isn't too bad. But, the trip home to your resort, at the end of the day could be a whole different story. Because so many people are leaving at the same time, Mears uses a regular bus vs a van...and that bus can make many stops, which can take a fair amount of time. I'm doing the Mears thing next month....we are using the bus over to US/IoA, and perhaps just taking a cab back....but, I still haven't decided yet.

If you want to have some fun ask a Cast Member at your hotel when you get there. Go to the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge and ask your server for a lot of fun.

haha that probably would be funny. We told Aladdin that we were going to Universal the next day once and he acted like he never heard of the place.

One other question that might be kind of dumb (please don't flame me because I really don't know). If MEARS does use a big bus on the ride home instead of the van, should we still tip the bus driver the same?

Yep...if the driver provides a service that goes beyond what one would expect, then sure, a tip is okay.
