Hi guys
We are staying at POP Century the first week of Oct and we are doing the Family 5K at MK on Oct 2nd.....I just realized we are not at a host hotel and was wondering the best way to get to MK for this run? Should we take a cab to MK or take a cab to one of the host hotels and take the bus to the MK? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks :thumbsup2

Either option... if it were me, I would opt for a cab to the TTC (NOT MK). It is one hop instead of two. The closest host hotel to Pop would be BWI. The cost difference between the two may be in the $5-6 range, maybe.

Hope this helps.

Is there any transportation running from the TTC to the MK that early in the morning? I know there will be no monorails running????

oh boy glad to see this thread pop up because I really hadnt thought about how to get to the race yet.

We are staying at yacht club. I just assumed we would take the monorail over to the ttc but now i dont think that will work. Should we just take a cab ove then? Any ideas what time to head to the race?

Even easier than the pop. Walk to the BW or BC resorts and take a bus. The park will not be open so walking to the monorail is not an option, even if it were running.

We're staying at Bay Lake Tower. What's our best option? Should we walk or drive? If we walk, how far is it?

It is easily walkable. The start looks like it will be on or near Topiary Lane which is only about .6 miles from the Contemporary according to The Google. I am going to watch and was thinking about setting up a breakfast ADR at the WL and walking over before hand. I'll have access to a car so that isn't an issue.

Agreed, walkable BUT not too early. You will want to wait so that you are leaving maybe 30-40 minutes pre-start to make sure the west side of the roadway has been closed down. You will be walking under the even seas lagoon on you way to the start. Once you come back out from the viaduct the side walk disappears, you will wnat the road closed for the las quarter mile of the walk on Floridian to the start.

So how early should one plan to leave to get there? I would be taking the bus from BWI or Beach club whichever one is running. Is there more than one bus? What time do they start running? Sorry for all the questions but last race we did we had a car so this time is different.

I was thinking about registering for the race (I know I'm late) and we'll be staying at BLT that day. It looks like online registration is shut down, does anyone know if I can call and still get in (or does anyone know if this is even an option?)

Entries closed and sold out, event though the website says 98%

ah well. It was a nice idea! Looks like I'll be doing my LR over at Fort Wilderness instead!

Thanks for the info!

You may want to head to the Expo late Friday to see if they have any entries for sale.

Thanks for the tip. We have a French Regional Lunch scheduled at Epcot the afternoon of 10/1, so I'll probably ride over to the expo afterwards.

Well, it now looks like I'm going for this race solo! DH just came down with shingles and it really won't be a good idea for him to ride in a car for 9 hours one way and then move around so much at the parks-- especially since the most painful thing for him is to even wear a shirt. I'm okay going solo-- it might even be better since this is my first 5K or race ever and I'm really nervous about being able to finish since my training performance has been awful the last couple of weeks.

Anyway, I digress. :rolleyes1 Now that I'm going alone, I'll be flying instead and won't have a car (or chauffer!)as previously planned. I'm staying at Saratoga Springs, so I was thinking on Friday for the expo I could take a boat to French Quarter and catch a WWOS bus. Then Saturday morning, I'd have guest services call me a cab to take me to FQ and I'd hop a bus to the TTC from there. Does this sound like a good plan??

Sounds good for the expo but would just have taxi take me to TTC for the race and avoid the transfer
