Best way to get to Epcot from MGM?

I know this has been asked before, but I can't find the thread. :confused3 What is the easiest way to get from MGM to Epcot? Do they have a direct boat? Or do you have to switch at one of the resorts (i.e. YC or BC)? This is going to be at the end of the day (6pm) with two small kids (DD4 & DS15months) so I think walking will be out of the question.

Any help would be much appreciated.

TIA

the boat is probably the easiest way, but it does make three stops and will take appx 40 minutes.

Not a direct boat per se, but you won't have to get off. The boat will stop at Swan/Dolphin, YC/BC and BW before it goes to Epcot. Not sure what the actual route is.

Yes.

It makes 3 short stops before it gets to Epcot, but you don't have to get out until Epcot.

It takes about 30 minutes once you get on the boat.
It is air-conditioned.
You may (or may not) have to wait on the dock for several (at least two) boats to arrive due to large crowds, but only if it is near closing time.

The boat would probably be your best bet...it takes about 30 minutes.

The Friendship boats that leave from Epcot go first to the Boardwalk, then YC/BC, then Swan/Dolphin, then MGM.

The walk, just in case you thought you might like to do it...is about a mile and a half.

Thanks for all of the info. I didn't realize that the distance was only approx 1.5 miles. If that is it, maybe we could walk if we strollered the kids. It would give us a chance to see the boardwalk.

That is one of the things I love about WDW...choices. Anyway, thanks again for all of the info.

Cheers!

There is also a bus from MGM to Epcot (and back) ... bus ride takes about 10 mins, busses run roughly every 20 mins

The boat will drop you off at the INTERNATIONAL GATEWAY between Britain and France.

It will stop at the Swan/Dolphin dock then the Yacht/Beach dock, then the Boardwalk dock...you could exit at the Swan and walk the rest of the way thu the Boardwalk area if you want to save time and see the Boardwalk but not walk all the way...the ride from MGM to the Swan eliminates about half of the walk...but it is then a lot of walking INSIDE Epcot depending on where in the park you want to go...maybe another mile to some parts of the park depending on how you go...

The bus will leave you at the MAIN ENTRANCE where you will walk thru the turnstiles and find yourself in front of Spaceship Earth (the big ball ).

Well, that can easily be said about ANY starting-point in Epcot. :rotfl:

And, its likely that no matter where you START (enter) you'll end up walking a great deal farther to get "somewhere you're not" or just to "see more things".

If you're trying to get to, say NORWAY or CHINA for dinner, no matter where you come in, its a "fur-piece a-walkin'" to get there.

Going to Spaceship Earth? Front gate's the place.

Going to Canada, UK, France, Morrocco, Japan, USA, Germany...
International Gateway is better.

All else (including much of Future World) can be a virtual "toss-up" (many attractions in FW are a bit closer to the front gate, but (considering you need to "go around or thru" Innoventions) not so much that it will make a big difference.)

It's actually a very nice walk if the temp isn't too high. DW & I did it in February after Fantasmic. We arrived at Epcot in time for Illuminations & EMH. There's a shortcut through the Boardwalk hotel. Turn right at the pool & go through the hotel. You'll come out near the Boardwalk.

If pressed for time, take the bus. Otherwise, walk or take the boat. If you take the boat, remember: it will drop you at World Showcase
