Best way to get to Aulani from UK

My boys would like to visit Aulani, I know nothing about it, what length of stay is recommended, and what is the best way to get there. Should we stop at either Disneyland or Disneyworld and do a two centre holiday?

Very interested to find out what others from the UK have done, pros and cons?

Hi there, I have never been to Aulani, but have read a few trip reports on the U.K. board from people who have been. If you didn't know, there is a DIS forum on aulani that you might find helpful too http://www.disboards.com/forums/aulani-a-disney-resort-spa.198/

I suppose it depends who you fly with as to where you will connect, but Virgin/delta connect in Los Angeles, so in that case, Disneyland would be a good choice. I hope someone like Dolphingirl comes along who has been and can help you out

We did EDI-LHR-LAX-Hawaii it was long but ok.

We found 10 days to be about perfect anymore and we would have been bored

We did Amsterdam Houston.
Spend night in Houston, then Houston-Honolulu.

On the way back we took 2 red eye flights rented a car in Houston and spent the day at a waterpark. Which helped to have a lazy day, take shower and refresh for 2nd flight. Didn't really care for the specific waterpark though

We were spending a few months in Florida and took a two week side trip to Hawaii.
We flew up to Atlanta from Sarasota Bradenton and then Atlanta to Honolulu, both with Delta.
We stayed at Aulani for a week and then did the NCL Pride of America cruise around the other islands for the second week before returning to Florida.
We had a rented car on Oahu and a week was ample to see all of the sights as well as enjoy the hotel complex. The car was also useful as it enabled us to get meals and provisions at places somewhat cheaper than Aulani itself!

Not from the UK , but you can get a flight to Chicago, stay overnight and get a direct flight to Honolulu. We had an 8 hour direct flight from Chicago to Honolulu last January.

hawaii is very far away....keep that in mind..
really really far...
aulani is just a resort...albeit a disney resort, but a resort just the same..
if you want to get disney theme park time in, then i suggest stopping in disneyland either on the way there or on the way back...
probably best if it's on the way there...

i suggest you do a good bit of research before you commit..

look up aulani to see what it is..

look at the distances and travel times..

if it were me, i'd fly to LA, spend 4 days to a week in disneyland/disney's california adventure
then continue on to aulani for another week..
then make that devastatingly long trek back to the UK...and it is far...i'm not exaggerating...(of course, i'm 5 hours further than you are, but even to the UK it's far)...

on the other hand, hawaii is a magnificent place...paradise is not overstating it...
if i could live there i would!...

We went to Hawaii for the second time in September 2015. We flew London to LA to Honolulu (about a 20 hour journey but I prefer the 'out trip' to be done in one go). We spent 12 nights in Hawaii but 7 of them were on a NCL cruise, the rest were at Aulani and we are already planning a trip back as soon as we can afford it!

We broke the journey home with a 4 night stop in Las Vegas. The two centre trip worked really well.

We did week Waikiki beach, week aulani, week Disney Cali in 2016

In 2015 we did few days aulani plus Disney Hawaii cruise

If you fly in direct but with just stop over flights quite reasonable for where Hawaii is (depending when go)

We fly London to lax with BA. Stay overnight. Early flight next day to Honolulu with AA. All booked via BA

This was 11 hour flight then 6 hour do a long way. I like to get the worst flight out of the way then stay somewhere on way home (Disney Cali). For that far you need go for a nice break

London to Vancouver then on to Hawaii. Is reasonable

Skyscanner is very good as it allows you to put in details and they give you the best price

I loved aulani. It is beautiful but not a lot goes on at night. It's totally different to Disney parks and cruises where lots entertainment. We went for a week at aulani this time. There is not a great deal of food choices do a car would be handy but we did all the tours and sightseeing when at Waikiki as once at aulani your kids won't want to leave. There is ulu cafe which is like counter service. Character breakfast and dinner. AMA ama restaurant quite pricey

Across the road they have ABC which sells food. Pizza place. coffee shop. Mexican etc.

Look at the aulani website as well

Aulani is not in your face Disney as they had to keep it hawaiin but character photo meets. Kids club etc
