Another thread got me to thinking...in an effort to try to destash, what is the best way to get rid of some dvds? Sell on ebay? Sell on craigslist? Trade-in at amazon? Trade-in at bestbuy.com? Do have any more suggestions or better alternatives? The trade-ins just don't seem to give anything much value, but selling takes a lot more time and effort...:confused3

Half.com??? It's run by ebay, but not an auction setting. I know lots of people who swear by half.com. They like it better than renting movies or games! lol. Make sure you ship media mail to save some cash.

I would suggest a donation with a reciept for taxes. It could be more of a value for you than selling, and for sure MUCH better than trade in!

Well selling on ebay takes a fair amount of work since you would have to list, mail and process payments. If you want a little bit of money I would make a list and put them up on Craigslist. I wouldn't put them up in one long posting, but break them down into several different posts by categories such as: children's, TV Series, Comedies, Action, etc.

I would not expect to get more than 2 or 3 dollars a piece considering blu-ray and digital download is the new it thing.

Call around to your local pawn shops and see how much they pay for DVDs. Most of them pay $2 for each DVD and that keeps you from having to list them, sell them or mail them to anybody.

If you decide to donate you could look at sending them to military troops overseas.

You won't get much for them by trading them into amazon but at least you know you can get rid of them and they are not taking up space in your house.

Actually if it's a single DVD first class parcel is cheaper than media mail - if an item is 8 ounces or less, first class is the way to go.

I love www.swapadvd.com. You post the dvd's you have and when someone requests one you mail it out to them. In return you get a credit good for whatever you want, which is mailed to you for free.

I especially love it for dd because she will really want a movie but then tires of it after awhile. So then I post it and swap it for something else.

I recently used secondspin.com. They give you a trade in value and then you send it to them. I had them mail me a check, but you can get a paypal deposit also. Once they received my CDs (I had almost 200), they rejected a bunch--which they shipped back to me. I got a minimal shipping credit, but it was better than nothing.

I've used them as well, and had good luck with them. They only rejected a few, and they paid very quickly.
