My boss and his DW are going on a cruise out of Port Canaveral (not a Disney cruise if that matters). They will be flying into Orlando and are looking for the best (least expensive) way to get to Port Canaveral. They would be open to flying into another airport if there is a better option.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Best and least expensive aren't always the same. Best way is probably a car service that will cater to their requests and be waiting for them at baggage claim to pick them up and will drop them at the cruise terminal. They then will be at the cruise terminal waiting for them and will drop them at the airline terminal entrance.

Then there are cruise line transfers, I don't know how much their particular cruise line's cost, that can get you there and back. They are on a bus and will do some waiting for busses to fill, etc.

They can also rent a car. It will probably be the most cost effective option, but you must rent the car, drive yourself, drop the car off, take the shuttle, and do the reverse when you return. That is probably the "best" option if you are looking for low cost.

Cruise transfers will cost around $70 pp/RT or about $140. A car service will cost around $200 (when you include tip). A one way car rental may be cheaper, although some agencies are charging a one way drop charge. Are they flying in the day of their cruise. I'm not sure I'd want the hassle of renting a car and returning it at the port.

I'd go with cruise transfers if they want to save $50+ otherwise book a car service.

edited to add It sounds like they don't have flights. Consider flying in the day before. They should be able to get a hotel near MCO on PL for a reasonable price. Renting a car would work.

We just did the cruise on the GLory, we rented a car from Avis at the airport and driove(1 1/2 hours). Avis will provide a free transfer(tip of course) to the ship. We were able to rent for about $45 total. There are gas stations realy close to the drop off. , like across the street. It is a very easy trip, straight road. You actualy go past the ship to drop off the car. Did the reverse on the way back.
