We went to TL once and are going again this summer. We ended up totally avoiding the wave pool because the waves were so strong we were being knocked off our feet even at the shallow end! I understand they don't allow you to have inner tubes in there. So what's the best way to enjoy the wave pool without drowning?!!! :goodvibes

Just go in the wave pool when they aren't making waves. There are certain periods that they don't make the waves.

IMO you really need to be a strong swimmer to fully enjoy the wave pool. I was the only one in the family to brave it out in the deeper water. DH and the kids stayed closer to the edges. There are some outer areas of the pool where the waves are calmed somewhat by what I could best term a concrete sand bar. The kids liked being near the wood barriers at the outer edges of the pool where the water splashed up on them. Another calmer area is the section where the kids slides are located. We spent a lot of time there as well. Sitting down in the water, even in the shallow areas doesn't work well since the waves will pull you along and all you get is a scraped up butt! ::MinnieMo

Personally, I don't like the wave pool! When its packed you worry about getting knocked into others and others knocking into you. I am always getting hurt. ( so why do I keep going?? :sad2: )

My son, on the other hand, loves it! Meanwhile I worry about him and I have to "fight" to keep him in a reasonable area of the pool.

We ended up going to Blizzard Beach last year which we both enjoyed. I think this is where we will end up again this year.

I don't like the wave pool either. I remember swimming in it as a child and having adults knocked on top of me from the wave. I'm also nervous about being dragged along the cement bottom and getting all scraped up.

BUT- it is fun watching people who aren't suspecting the wave at all. I like the ladies who have their hair all curled and make up and sunglasses on and carrying a camera walk out in the water and then woooosh!! :earseek: :teeth:
