I know the packages max out at 10 days...so, is it better to book 2 - 7 day packages or go room only with AP? We are AAA members, so we can get a discount there. Also, we would be interested in a DDP, so how would that figure into this? Our goal is to go the least expensive route, but I'm not sure how to even begin this. Need expert advice. Thanks.

Same boat here.... Want to go for 10 days but not sure even where to start. Not even sure which is the best discount. Thinking of just doing a room at one of the All Stars because we are rarely in the room anyway.

My family did this last year in July. What I did was buy one AP for the discount. We paid $99 per night instead of $150 at POR. We also had my parents and sister with us so we used 3 rooms and all 3 rooms got the AP discounted price. We bought the 10 Magic Your Way base tickets. I did not purchase hopper or no experation option. I bought the tickets from Ticketmania. Ticket total price for 1 adult and 2 kids, ages 3-9 was $539.

We did not go to the parks on travel days and we incorporated 2 pool days into the trip. We really needed them with the heat and after a day at MK the kids really needed a break from the parks anyway. MK days seem to be longest because we like to stay for fireworks and then waited for a bus. We wouldn't get back to the room until after 11:30pm.

We also purchased the DDE card instead of the DDP. It was $50 last year and gave us 20% off most meals. We did eat at the food court at POR a lot and the card was accepted there. Our trip came to $2900 for 2 weeks with air. That does not include food but we had accumulated $200 in points on our Disney Visa card and that really helped to pay for most of our food. We only spent maybe another $500 out of pocket and I will say that we never felt like we were skimping.

Hope this helps. :goodvibes
