What is the best form to carry your money in at Disney? Cash? CC? Travelers Checks?

Doesn't matter in what form, I'd be happy to carry it for you though! ;)

We take both Travelers Checks and cash.

Moe, almost all the venues take credit cards. If you're staying on-site, the very best method is your Key to the World card - same as using your CC. When you check out, you'll get a nice listing of all your charges. We usually bring just a little cash for tips, very small purchases etc. Travelers checks, in my opinion, can get a little cumbersome.

If you're staying onsite, I recommend carrying cash and then having them put it on your hotel room key...that way everything is on there -- tix, money, dining credits (if applicable), etc.

We had a little cash, a Disney Rewards card and then our room key.

Allyson :)

Used to do the CC and the room key with a little cash, but have now decided to go with adding the cc right to the room key and carry a little less. Everything's so simple that way. Usually have $20 or so in cash on us in case of a snack cart emergency. :)

We also carry just about $20 cash our CC (for our free Photo in Epcot) and KTTK room key for everything else.

I usually take one credit card, about $20 cash and my KTTK card. I am not sure why I carry the CC at all, since we usually charge everything to our room. A sense of security, I guess.

Do you put a certain amount on your room key each day? Or is there no limit and you pay at the end of your stay?

My DW puts it in her bra! Nobody in there right mind would take it in there!

We take some cash very little though. Mainly use the card from the room. Some travelers cheques last trip. Not sure if we are going to us them this time though. We usually keep our cash seperate and in a zipped up pocket or something like that.

I don't carry cash there - I just hand it out to every store we pass :lmao: !

Actually, we used our room cards, some gift cards, and CC's the most. Never needed much cash.

When you check in, they'll ask if you want to set up a room charge. It can be backed up with credit card, debit card (with VISA/MC logo), travelers checks, cash or even Disney Dollars. Each level of resort has a maximum room charge amount (you can set it up to that limit, it doesn't have to be AT that limit): $500 for Values, $1,000 for Moderates, $1,500 for Deluxes.

If you use a credit or debit card, there is NO HOLD placed on your account. They will "run" the card just to make sure it's on an active account, but there is NO HOLD.

When you reach your limit or you check out or check out time occurs, whichever comes first, your card will be charged the amount you charged on the room account.

Let's say you set up a $500 room charge and have a current balance of $490. You try to room charge a $15 item. The charge will be declined. Your card will be charged the amount of your balance ($490). They have it set up that you can call your resort's front desk and instantly set up another room charge. That will be done in seconds, and you can go charge that $15 item now.

You can get printouts of your room charge account from the front desk as often as you'd like.

I strongly prefer using the room charge because of its incredible convenience. I don't have to carry cash or a credit/debit card with me. At the end of vacation, my account has only one or two large charges rather than 57 individual purchases to try to track.

I strongly recommend carrying minimal cash ($15-$20 at any given time at most) and putting your CC on the Room Key and leaving the CC in your room (perhaps even in the safe), if you don't and you loose your credit card while on vacation then you are basically out of luck unless your bank can come up with something creative. If you loose your room key Disney says you are not responsible for unauthorized charges AND can replace the room key immediately, so it is really the safest method in my opinion.

Onsite- easiest and safest is the KTTK room key card. Take a little cash, too.

Offsite- I like to use the Disney giftcard- available at any Disney store or online. The card can be used for food, merchandise and services at all WDW resorts, parks, restaurants, and stores. There are a very few non-Disney owned restaurants that don't take the card. Take a bit of cash, too.

Take wads and wads of cash, enough to bulge out of all your pockets.Toss it around like pixie dust.Pretend your David Copperfield....cause its gonna dissappear!!!!

I know this is going to sound very strange, but my husband and I have no credit cards (clipped them up awhile ago after paying them off). We really don't want to take our debit card because it would lead to too much temptation inside the parks. I was thinking of setting up our KTWK and just putting cash on it, but I wondered how do they go about giving you your money back. For example say you put 700 down on your card but only spend 500 do they just automatically give you the cash back or do you have to wait for some kind of refund? Also we are going with another couple and staying in the same room to save some money so how do they go about setting up two different accounts on the same room?

I would really rather not take our card, but I also don't want to take wads of cash (that why we opted for the dinning plan) so please somebody help me!! I leave very soon and this is really starting to worry me!

We generaly put about $40 each in a front jeans pocket in the AM for souvies and such. We use DDP, so no need for food money. CC stays in the safe in the room for emergencies. If somebody can get my money from my front pocket of my tight *ss shorts without me knowing... they earned that money!:lmao:
