Best way to buy online without a credit card?

My teen is building a computer for someone. They gave him cash. He needs to. Order these parts online. I don't want him using one of my credit cards for this for a variety of reasons.

Is there a way to pre-buy some kind of debit card? Where does he do that?

I know about visa gift cards, but those charge a fee. I feel so dumb about this. I'm sure there is a simple free solution, any ideas?

How about ordering it for him? You could grab everything from Newegg.com.

You could also set up a paypal account but if you give him the username and password you are basically giving him the credit card info!

Have him open a checking account and get a debit card with it.Use it ONLY for online purchases.The money is removed from the account and can ONLY be utilized with the money in the account.We've done this for years,and wish we had done it sooner.It's very easy to keep track of.

You can also purchase visa or amex gift cards. they can be used onlline. you do have to pay an activation fee (around 5 bucks) but we have done this for our kids and it has worked great. most major grocery stores carry them now. we have even purchased them at walmart
or you can always check those displays of gift cards at the store and see if there is one from the vendor your son is using. most retail cards do not have an activation fee. i have seen the variety of merchants offer cards at the market now, including amazon and you can get anything from amazon (just about

Just order the stuff online for him. You don't have to save your credit card information to the account, so you don't have to worry about him ordering more stuff. Or set up a paypal account if you're worried about security.

Ds12 has an ING account with a debit card attached to it. I think it's a teen type account. He's able to buy stuff on line and we can transfer $$$ into his account from ours
