best way to buy AP's with Disney reward card?

I want to buy AP's for my end of January trip with my Disney rewards card. Normally I could've just waited until we got to WDW and bought it, but now with FP+, that won't work.

If I order them from the WDW site, do I get a voucher that then has to be turned in? Plus the site says that they won't be mailed until Dec 2? Not sure why?

I live near a Disney Store but I heard they don't sell AP's. I thought about buying a six day base ticket so I can have the number on them to link to my MDE. If I do that then use it once and go back out and buy the AP what happens to my FP+? Would it then become all messed up?

I renewed all of our AP (5 in total) via the phone in October without issue. I asked for voucher numbers and the CM gave them to me, but never received physical vouchers in the mail. At the MK ticketing counter all I had to do was present our Magic Bands and IDs to activate the new AP.

You could purchase a 6-day base ticket if so inclined, but do so via a source that will give you a discount (Undercover Tourist, for example). After its first use it'll be equal to the current gate price admission. Your FP+ will not be messed up when upgrading it to an AP.

I just did a renewal but I did it through DVC Member Services as I wanted the DVC discount.

They have given me a number to link to MDX in order to make fastpasses etc. (and it did work) but I must present that number at a Guest Services to have my pass activated and receive a discount card (you need this to be eligible for merchandise discounts, etc.) It's not going to be mailed. I don't think you need to have it mailed.

I usually buy tickets through Undercover Tourist, but I want to pay for them with my Disney Visa Rewards card, so I have to buy them directly from Disney. I was just nervous that I would lose my FP+ selections if I changed my ticket from a base ticket to an AP.
