Hi
We are planning on going to DL around August 22&23. I was wondering the best way to get tickets...at the best price. We aren't looking at Park Hoppper. And is it possible for a CA resident to purchase tickets for us...or do they check residency @ the gate? Thanks for any info! Im sure this question has been asked a million times over!

It really depends on how much you go to Disneyland. If you go frequently then Annual Passes are a must, but given that you're from out of town... I'm assuming that you don't go frequently. When I had friends from out of town come visit California for the first time we got the Southern California Citypass (citypass.com) and it was VERY worth it, but if you JUST want to do Disneyland then... I personally don't know of any offers, sorry.

And yes I believe that a California resident can purchase tickets for you and I've never been asked to show ID at the turnstiles.

Usually the two cheapest places to get tickets are www.arestravel.com and www.getawaytoday.com. Both are reputable and used often around here.

SoCal resident tickets are for SoCal residents. If you are traveling with a SoCal resident to the parks you can get those tickets and use them. If you are not then it is a form of cheating. Can you get away with it? Probably. I would not try it myself. :cool2:

Those two aren't really the cheapest...I found flightcentre.ca to be the cheapest.

Many people who ask about buying tix are looking for places with solid reputations. Ares and GAT are that and are used by many including me. I have never heard of the site you mention. Not to say they are disreputable but there are disreputable sellers out there and many are willing to pay a little more to make sure they do not buy worthless tickets. :surfweb:

Not to mention that because flightcentre.ca is in Canada, it can be a little tricky for some US residents to use.

I have read multiple threads recently mentioning lastminutetravel.com as a reputable place to purchase discount hoppers.

I also like to use mousesavers.com as a guide for the best ticket deals, and Mary, the owner of the site, frequents our board here as well. :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure all places mentioned about sell 3+ day passes only. Since you are only going for 2 days your best bet is maybe your local credit union, or just paying gate prices. There aren't too many discounted 2 day non-PH passes.

A few questions if I may...

If I buy discounted tickets, can I upgrade to APs at the park?

Does it work like it does at WDW where I have bought the most discounted ticket (that doesn't exceed the cost of the AP) then used it once and the current gate price was credited toward the cost of the AP?

Are there any DVC discounts for DL APs?

Thanks for the help!

There are small discounts for the 2-day parkhopper. The discounts get larger the more days you stay.

DL 2 day ph online is $173
Ares.com has 2 day ph at $168
Lastminutetravel is $161

(For some reason, I could not check getawaytoday.com - server would not connect - may be temporarily down)

All three sites are used quite a lot by Dis'ers. I use lastminutetravel.com any time I am traveling with friends who need parkhoppers

1. Yes you can upgrade.
2. No it doesn't work the same, you only get credit for the price you actually paid.
3. There are DVC discounts for DL APs, but I'm not exactly sure what they are.

The website is listed www.mousesavers.com

Way cheaper then aries travel:

Aries travel for 6 days:
231 for adults and 211 for kids

Flightcentre 7day(or 8 if you ask):
218 adults and 192 kids

Not sure how you haven't heard of them hydroguy, there are numerous threads on this board alone about them.

(not that this helps with a 2 day pass....)

To put peoples minds at ease with flightcentre, they send you an email with your ticket voucher. They are a major canadian tourism chain, with multiple storefronts in major cities. They are not just a website so feel safe about that.

Out of curiosity, they sell in US $ and Canadian $?

When I purchased from them it was CAD. It came to 176 CAD per adult for a 3-day park hopper pass.

It's in canadian, and I realize the exchange rate is not good for you guys at the moment...I think 1 US dollar is worth 0.96 cents. But still that isn't bad...basically par.

I have another thread where an american customer used them just fine as well:

http://www.www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2708891&page=2

I realize this doesn't address the original question, but it does adress the thread title. So it never hurts:)

Also, I find flightcentre's online prices tend to be higher then the ones you pay if you call or go in...so it may pay to call.

Why aren't you looking at Park Hoppers? (all 2 day or more tickets are PH tickets anyway). note - cool diser's park hop each day. :cool2:

& why only 2 days? (3 days would be a minimum to tour the parks properly & would also get you one MM...... 4-5 days would be better still).

:)

We did want to do three days, but not sure if we have time. We are driving from MN (will take 30 hours), with three kids, for my brothers wedding...in Sacramento. So...we are trying to experience Disney around the wedding weekend. We talked about taking our time getting there and then maybe doing DL after the wedding now...the 29th & 30th. Since, we were only doing two days, I was told it wasnt really worth it to get the PH. I would LOVE to do 4-5! We also dont have a lot of funds!
