Best way from Ft. Wilderness to EPCOT monorail?

After Mickey's Backyard BBQ, we would like to enjoy a ride on the monorail while waiting for Wishes to start. The BBQ ends at 8 and Wishes is at 10. My plan was to ride the monorail roundtrip to/from EPCOT since we have never done that, and then enjoy Wishes from the Poly beach. Is that possible in my 2 hour timeframe? And what is the best route from FW to the Epcot Monorail?

Thank you!

Take to boat that goes to Contemporary. You can then get on the monorail and ride it to the TTC. You'll change to the Epcot monorail there. The boat might stop at WL first. If it does then just stay on it until it gets to the CR.

I would guess that the boat to the CR, if it goes directly there from FW, would be about ten to fifteen minutes. If it stops at WL first, then add another ten minutes. WL and CR are really close, maybe five minutes by boat.

You'll have to wait for the monorail at CR, but most likely not more than 15 minutes. The next stop is the TTC, a short trip. Switching to the Epcot monorail will add five to twenty minutes. The ride to Epcot is at least ten minutes long, maybe longer. Then you'll have to sit in the station to load and unload. Back to the TTC, switch to the park monorail, and the next stop is the Poly.

Or, from the TTC, you can just walk to the Poly. The beach might be closer that way, although I'm not sure.

I think you can do it in 2 hours.

Thanks! Sounds like an adventure :) It is a resort only trip so we are up for it.

If anyone could chime in on walking vs monorail to Poly from TTC that would be great!

I'd echo what the PP says about the times, etc. But I'd also ask if it's necessary to get on the EPCOT monorail. It's not a bad trip (and I love how it goes inside EPCOT shortly before stopping just outside the park), but it takes a lot longer and requires an extra transfer at the TTC to get on. However, if you're okay with just riding the monorail, I'd take that boat over to CR from FW and get on the resort monorail. It's a nice ride, kills some time but leaves you plenty of time to get to the Poly beach, and there's usually a little spiel about each resort. We enjoy it as what is usually our only monorail ride each trip.

As PP said, you can walk to the Poly beach from the TTC, no matter which line you end up riding. But if you get on the resort line, I'd just ride on to the Poly and get off there and go to the beach. It's maybe a 5-minute walk from the Poly monorail stop to the beach, and maybe a 10-minute walk from the TTC to the Poly beach.

Is there a bus to to take to the TTC from FW? If so, is that a better option? Or does the location of Mickey's BBQ make one form of transportation better than another?

Not anything that's regularly scheduled.

If Mickey's BBQ is too far from the back of FW (where the boat dock is) to easily walk, there are internal buses to get you around inside FW.

Going to the front of FW (where the park buses are) would get you park buses or DtD buses. OP could take a park bus to EPCOT and then ride the EPCOT monorail to the TTC. But this would be an awfully long trip, versus just getting a boat to CR, and getting on the resort monorail there.

There is no bus from TTC.

The boats from MK, CR, & WL, and the bus from WL, all stop near the BBQ. Buses from the other parks stop at the Outpost parking lot, and require taking a 2nd internal shuttle bus to the BBQ, adding about 15-20 minutes travel time.

Here is a map by Robo http://stitchkingdom.com/maps/
It shows the layout of the TTC and the Polynesian. I really don't know which beach has the better viewing area. But if you have plenty of time, I would probably go all the way to the Poly's monorail station and explore the resort.

Thanks for the map! :thumbsup2

We certainly don't have to ride the monorail to Epcot, but if we have the time I would prefer to do that one. Since this is a resort only trip, it will be fun to at least "see" a little of Epcot. :)
