We are considering driving ourselves to the BBQ but after all that unlimited beer & wine thought it best not to drive back.:D Is it possible to leave our car there overnight? If not then is the fastest way there to go by bus to MK and then the boat from there? They are saying to allow an hour for transportation. Does that sound reasonable? If we were to park at Fort Wilderness, do we have to take another bus to get to the BBQ? So the Pavilion would actually be closer by boat? Any advice would be appreciated!

Are there no Ft Wilderness experts out there? I am giving this a bump in hopes of receiving at least some information. Perhaps I should have posted in the camping forum? Is it possible to move it now?? Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Yes, the best way to get there is by bus to MK, then boat to FW. The bus ride will take 15 minutes and the boat ride is 10 minutes. Adding some wait time for each to come up with about 45 minutes for the trip.

The BBQ is a short walk from the boat dock. The parking lot is more than a mile away at the front entrance. They would almost certainly let you park there, but you would have to take an internal bus to get back and forth to the BBQ.

Thanks so much for responding Master Gracey!!
I appreciate your time calculations! How would you compare going by car? It seems it would be faster to the resort but then longer to the actual Pavilion? Perhaps it may actually take the same amount of time? However, the boat is the recommended mode of travel.
Does anyone know if it's possible to leave our car at the Ft Wilderness parking lot for an extended period of time??
We don't usually wander into that neck of the woods(no pun intended!) so I'm not as familiar with getting around there. Thanks for unraveling this mystery for me!

The drive from CSR to FW takes less than 15 minutes. They have a very large parking lot at FW and they routinely provide parking for the BBQ, campfire program, etc. You won't be given one of those three hour limit cards like they do at some resorts. The campground bus stop is right next to the parking lot. There are three campground bus routes and they all go to Settlement Depot where the BBQ is held. These buses are color coded (orange, yellow and purple) and one of them will be coming through every five or ten minutes. They also have buses there for the theme parks, so be sure to get on a campground bus.

Thanks again Master Gracey! I hate to be a pest but you seem to be the only one answering me so please bear with me. One more question: How long would you say it is to walk from the parking lot to the BBQ? Just in case we decide on a late night stroll back to our car after the fireworks etc.

The walk from the BBQ to the parking lot is a bit more than a mile. It's going to take at least 20 minutes, depending on how fast you "stroll". It's a pleasant walk though. The first two thirds will be on a sidewalk/trail that runs along the camping loops. The last third is a lighted pathway through a wooded area.
