I'm on the hunt for a pair of warm boots suitable for being outside in -20*C or -30*C (-4 to -22*F) for a good half hour at a stretch. I'm considering UGG's but they're so darn expensive and, well, ugly! Any other good boot recommendations?

Are you looking for stylish boots or just practical boots? I have had pairs of LL Beans basic boots for years. I LOVE them. My last pair I got about 4 years ago and since we moved to Florida the following year, barely wore them. I need to break them in this winter. I still go back to my older ones that are at least 10 years old because they are so comfy.

I think any pair of LL Bean boots would probably be great for you.

If you are not looking for anything stylish try Sorels's or Baffin's or something with a felt liner. Trust me I'm Canadian :rotfl:

I have a pair of North Face boots but around -20 for any longer than 45 minutes my toes start getting cold.

Sorels -they may not look like Uggs-and they arent cheap-but they do keep the feets nice and toasty-they will keep you warm as long as you can stand to be out of doors in those temps.

Yeah, me too! Only this is the first year I will be forced out of doors for extended periods of time. Normally I sensibly just run from door to car to door!
