I'm looking to buy a pair of good walking shoes or some type of tennis shoe that won't kill my feet to wear while at Disney. Any suggestions? And I know people are all about crocs around the board, but I cannot bring myself to wear those so anything else you can reccomend?

keep in mind you CAN walk in running shoes, but you cannot run in walking shoes! I recently purchased a pair of Nike running shoes for my upcoming trip in April. They are lightweight and very comfortable. So.....you do not necessarily need walking shoes. Just something to think about! :)
I hope this helps!

Shoes are such a personal thing and everyone's feet really differ. That said, I wear Adidas or New Balance because I have wide feet. I also wear Dr. Scholl's inserts (I think they made for walking) and that really helps for comfort. Just make sure you REALLY break them in! Use foot deoderant to ward off blistering.

Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah I don't have to have walking shoes, just a good pair of tennis shoes that I can walk in without them hurting my feet.

i was going to suggest Nike running shoes as well. They do run narrow, but that's what I wore when we went and I put Dr. Scholl's in them as well,a nd they were great all day long!! A couple of hints,
1. If you can, go back and change shoes in the middle of your day. It refreshes your feet.
2. Make sure the shoes you take are broken-in ahead of time. Don't expect to break theem in at WDW. OUCH!
3. Carry band-aids, just in case.

I have Merrell tennis shoes. They were 90 bucks but well worth it and the kind I have, have removable soles and are mesh so your feet stay cool and dry. I love them!

The Reebok Princess. It has been around for many years and is relatively cheap.

Lots of the nurses in our area wear them (and none wear crocs, contrary to what the crocs people say). My podiatrist actually calls them, "the nursing Reebok!" :goodvibes

I buy mine at shoes.com. Can I say that? I know you can say ebay and crocs, so I think it is OK. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Everyone in our family has switched to the New Balance 833. For us it's the perfect WDW vacation shoe; ultra light, ultra breathable, ultra cushioning. The 833 has a roomy toe-box, it can be ordered in different widths and it doesn't look too bad dressed up in a pair of khakis. It does get dirty rather easily due to it's light color and doesn't offer a high-pronator (fallen arches) much support but other than that, it's ideal.

I know how you feel about the Crocs, I know everyone RAVES, but I just can't bring myself to buy a pair either. They are just the UGLIEST things ever!

Personally, I won't wear anything but K-Swiss. I wore them on my last two trips to Disney and had NO problems. My feet were very comfy. I just got a new pair and I they are my favorite ever. Very light weight and they have what they call "Shock Spring" defense. Don't know what that is exactly or if it is just some fancy marketing ploy, but they are VERY comfortable, even more so than my other K-Swiss.

One thing though, no matter WHAT shoe you get....DO NOT wear them brand new to WDW! I like to break mine in for at least a month before hitting the parks.

You might go to a running store in your area and see what they would recommend for your foot. They would have a better idea of what would feel good after walking around all day.

Bring mole skin for blisters. It stays on better than bandaids.

You say "tennis shoe" in your post, but I don't think a tennis shoe, per se, would be a good choice. Depending on your foot type, a good running or walking shoe would be the best. If you are going in the summer and looking for a good sandal, some mentioned here are Merrill, Nike, Birkenstock, and Keen. You can save money by ordering online, but try some on at a local store first to get an idea. Research first before you order online, then you won't have to worry about returning them.

As far as the Crocs go, I have a pair of the solid navy ones, and with jeans, they don't look much different than any other pair of clogs. I have huge feet, so the bright colored ones are out of the question for me.

Also, I saw the red-haired chef from the Food Network - Mario ?- wearing orange Crocs the other night.

:rotfl: I love New Balance but bought because of looks last time. I got a great pair of Nike Air that I love. Took only a few weeks to break them in and have no blisters on my trips. Do not buy shoes and then wear them there new that is a recipe for blister disaster.

Nike Shox! After trying them, I wear nothing else. They have so much spring to them when you walk. Yes, they are expensive, but well worth it.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

Sorry about the confusion, I call all atheltic shoes "tennis shoes", no matter what the specifics are (running shoes, walking shoes, etc. = tennis shoes to me). I'm going to check out everything you all suggested and then make a decision based on comfort/fashion (terrible I know).
