Hey all! Just got back from my first-ever trip and one thing I have to weigh in on immediately is how pleased I was with my choice of shoes. I got the recommendation from somebody on the boards (sorry I don't remember who) and I will swear by these shoes FOREVER!!!

I was wearing Keen's; the Newport model! My feet did not hurt or get tired ONCE!! My husband was sooooo jealous!!!! The last day (Thurs) we were at MK and got SOAKED and just stayed wet the whole day so they didn't dry out til much later. And they were a little uncomfortable after I ran over myself with my suitcase but judging by the size and color of the bruise on my foot, I'm not surprised.

But seriously, for all those folks (and I was one of them) that post about shoes, you've GOT to try these!!! DH said he's buying a pair before we go next! Look 'em up! www.keenfootwear.com

Going back in 730 days!

Thanks for the tip. I'm always looking for comfortable walking shoes and the site shows that a shoe store only a few blocks from our house sells them.

These shoes look so cool! I just ordered a pair. Thanks for the tip, this shoe thing has been making me crazy!!!

The shoe thing is making me crazy too!!! I'm still not sure which ones to buy since we have heard great things about so many different kinds for both adults and kids. Guess I'l just have to go out and look at see what seems comfortable.
Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions!

These look interesting, I usually wear only Birks but since they are not water proof and we are going in the summer (rain everyday) I want something that will support like birks. Can you give me a price range on the Keens?
Thanks!

Thanks. I was glad to find a store near me on the website. Finally, a comfortable shoe that doesn't make me want to hurl like someone on the CROC thread posted. :teeth:

Going to take DH with me for a pair of sandals. It's nearly impossible to get him walking shoes/sandals that fits his requirements :hyper2:

I just looked at the Newports online and they look great! I am a little afraid of not wearing socks and sneakers, though, to avoid blisters. Did you have an extended "break-in" period before your trip? Do you normally have sore, tired feet from extended walking?

Did you get the leather or synthetic Newports?

Thanks for the tip!

I just paid $95. for the Keen's I ordered from Zappos. I was also looking at these:

Maybe they will help you. I'm so glad to have this "shoe monkey" :rotfl2: off my back!

I have posted before that I recommend these Keen shoes - I have the Newport style also! I wore them on our August trip to WDW and they were wonderful. Your feet will feel bouncy and supported in them and no problems with rain getting the shoes smushy and squishy at all. They are the BEST shoes. I also purchased these for my girls and husband for our Thanksgiving trip. The girls LOVED them - right out of the box. They had no time to break them in, but they were the shoes they chose to wear everyday even instead of their other comfy shoes. If you order from Zappos you get free shipping and also free return shipping. (convenient for shoe shopping) I do recommend you go up a size, though. That worked out best for all 4 of us. Their sizing is a bit off, I think. I own a couple pairs and they are all a size larger than I normally wear.

Enjoy the world with happy feet!!

What is the price for these Newports? I'll be going to the mall tomorrow and will stop and look at them if the price is in my budget.

Dh just bought a pair of these (Newport model in Bison color) today. I had seen this thread last night and we were at REI shopping and those just happened to be the shoes he picked out based on looks and he loved the feel when he put them on. We NEVER spend $95 for shoes, but I figured with the amount of money we are spending on this trip thats a small price to pay to ensure dh's comfort. And I felt more comfortable about it having read the good reviews here. We'll be there late July so I know he wouldn't want to wear socks and sneakers in that heat, and he has had "sandal issues" on past DL trips. I wear my $3 Old Navy flip flops and do fine, but it really gets to him. So I'm very happy he found something he likes.

My daughter and I just returned from the mall and found Keens shoes at one of the shoe stores, this store carries tons of birks, earth shoes and such. I bought Keens St. Barts styls more of a open sandle style but with a covering in the toe area but only for your big toe. hard to explain! They seem pretty comfortable I will wear them over the next 2 months before we go. My feet are used to Birks so hopefully they will like these. they were $60

My DD bought Crocs, if you have wide feet they will suit you fine, she says they are very comfortable , like walking on sponges. They were only $30 but I did not like the look of them for me, now if they sold a slimmer style maybe I would consider them.
It is hard to find waterproof shoes that are comfortable. Birks does make a couple of styles but can't find them locally.

Thanks to all for all this great info on all the shoes.

Thank you so much for this tip. Last trip, I had just purchased new sneakers from Easy Spirit. I ended up getting the worst blister on my left foot. I couldn't believe it. By the third day, I was wearing flip flops! And I am the one that always looks at people wearing flip flops and shakes my head! I will get my Keens now, and break them in for our trip in Dec!

Thanks for the tip. I have "done Disney" in Reeboks and experienced enough blisters to say, "enough is enough".

I saw these Keen shoes on the Keen website and love their style! I will be trying on a pair tomorrow!

I just bought some Crocs from the suggestion from another post. I love them, but I will admit, they are too orthopedic looking for my taste. They look as though I needed a doctor's prescription to purchase and wear them! :rotfl:

I will try on some Keens tomorrow and see how they feel. Thanks for the tip! ;)

I bought a pair last year for our vacation to Wash,Oregon...I loved them at first, but I don't think they are good for someone like me with a wide foot. After a while they were bothersome and I put my teva's on. I still wear them, but not for extended periods--guess I rely on my Crocs for that...But if you are embarressed by Crocs and have a narrow"er" foot these would work for awhile I think and I do like the look...but in the end comfort wins over all else!

I just ordered a pair myself. Thanks for the tip! I loved the price. Hope they fit. I ordered my size.

You are quite welcome :) I also thought the price was great, so I hoped it would help someone else out too :earboy2:

I bought a pair of Newports before our trip, which we just got back from. I was very disappointed, and had to stop wearing them after 1/2 day. The many straps rub in several wrong places for me. I am hoping to take them back to the Walking Co store where I bought them - we'll see if they take them back. I never spend that much on shoes, but I was willing to for good sandals. As it turned out, I ended up wearing my sneakers all week, and as anyone who was there last week knows, it rained a whole lot, so it sure would have been nice to get some that worked.

Just a word of warning - these are probably not a great sandal for everyone. By the way, I have very wide feet as well. They seem wide enough, though, so I am not sure why the rubbing happens, but it does.
