Thinking of going to DL over spring break. We have stayed at the BW Park Place Inn (??) and the Candy Cane Inn. Want to be close enough to walk and not have to take ART. What do you guys think?

I think this question is asked at least once a day, if not more - I would just search through all the pages here and you will find tons of thread and answers on this topic!

Yes we should start an offproperty sticky at the top!

My fave is Desert Inn and Suites, but it's my favorite for what I need and for the price I'm willing to pay. I wouldn't say it's the best, but there's nothing wrong with it. It all depends on what you are willing to spend. I personally like under $100 per night, otherwise I'm staying on property!

I would say the best with the nicest rooms and perks is the Candy Cane Inn where you have already stayed. With the extended breakfast and exclusive shuttle and being in walking distance, it's hard to beat. But it will most likely be over $100 per night, so that's why I don't stay there.

Thanks Matterhorn for your opinions. Was curious as to what others have to say.

I would second that! The one in Mary Jo's thread doesn't have all of the info that people have gathered on the hotels. (Although it is very good!)

If you can afford it I stayed at CG and loved it, not only is the hotel nice but the walking distance to DL and CA being rght out the door and DD being right there, I would never stay anywhere else. Good luck on whatever you decided, remeber you are going to Disneyland, lucky you:banana:

I like the Tropicana. Its right next door to the BW Park Place Inn. Its been recently refurbed and has a free (but very basic) continental breakfast. The rooms are small but its very clean and the staff was friendly. I agree that this gets asked a lot but since it doesn't get answered by every poster with experience each time, its always good to reask and get more opinions.

I've not stayed here, but, have had a lot of friends stay at the Candy Cane Inn and they rave about it. They have a free shuttle too.

We stayed at Park Vue Inn, situated directly accross the street from the main entrance. It includes a free continental breakfast and we could watch the fireworks from our room. IMO it was a good deal and I would stay there again.

We have stayed at the Tropicanna and the Carousel, both right across the street. Of the two I prefered the Tropicana and next time this is probably where we will stay again. Although the Carousel was fine, just not as nice. Then only advantage the Carousel had was we were on the top floor and had a wonderful view of DCA, especially at night with all the lights. Tropicana, was much cleaner and just nicer...if that makes sense.

Thank you all so much for your very valued opinions. We finally made a decision yesterday and just decided to go to Disneyworld instead. That was where we had originally planned to go and I already had airline tickets, but then got to thinking it had been a few years since we had been to DL. I could have changed our flights on SW, but they were just as expensive to change them to go to California. Well, after looking at everything, we just decided to go to wdw. We are DVC, and were able to get all of our rooms taken care of with that.

We still will go out to DL, but probably not until next summer. I will definitely remember all of your advice.

Thanks again,

So staying at hotel that not a disney one is best??

We have never been to DL and are really thinking about it for later this year, so I am gathering info!
I have only checked the 3 disney hotels so far, but there not the closest???:confused3

Thanks for any help!:thumbsup2

Depends, we love staying on site and feeling like we never leave the magic, however, on site is a lot more expensive and there are many off site hotels that are sometimes closer and/or less expensive. For our last trip we stayed off site for the first time at HOJO, loved it, but still missed the disney magic....
