I am planning to start training for a 5K, and I would like to track my distance, speed, etc. I know a lot of people have GPS watches. I might like to get one someday, but is there a really good iPhone app that I can use in the meantime?

I use RunKeeper on my iPhone. It tracks your distance and your pace as long as you have the locator on the phone activated. It will also do your intervals, although, you can only do one interval or keep starting it over and play your music. I think a Garmin would be more accurate but it works for me.

No matter what app you use you will want to get a good case for your iPhone because it will hit the deck way more than you want it too. I use an Otterbox case. It has a case I can clip to my iFitness belt or even my skirt if I am doing a race or a longer run.

Good luck with your training and happy running! :goodvibes

i'm not sure if this one is 'really good' yet as i've just had it recommended to me and only used a couple times.. map my run

I use pedometer pro gps+. I've never had good luck keeping runkeeper up on my phone, it always crashes on me.
