I am literally at the click submit point on our DL vacation package but I am just sooo unsure what view to book for the GCH? This is a surprise trip for my DS's 7th birthday. We did the same for our DD's 7th, but we went to WDW. For her bday we booked theme park view from the Poly so she could see the castle at night. For this trip, we want DS to have a great view as well.... BUT is it better to do Premium CA Park view, DTD view, or Pool view at this resort?? Reviews are all over the place. Any quick help from seasoned GCH goers would be GREAT!!!! TIA!

I *personally* would not do DTD view (might be noisy with kids and it's a very long walk to the elevator). I have gotten pool and resort views and I personally like the resort view. The one problem is that a lot of the rooms have moderate to total obstruction from trees, which is still a very pretty view but not much of the park to be seen. Premium view is 4th, 5th, and 6th floors. Fourth was moderately obstructed so if you can, try to get the top floor. Trouble is, it's not guaranteed and I've always gotten 4th floor anyway.

There may be specific areas to request which will get you a better view. Others will probably post to tell you what they are. I always ask for a room near the elevators so that may not get me the best view.

ETA: Our 4th floor premium resort view room had a very nice partial view of GRR. You could also hear the bluegrass band playing. 5th and 6th floor rooms in the same location would've been better because of the trees but it was still very cool.

FYI, this was our view from room 5438: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2526004 where we made a theme park view res and requested a room in the 5400's. Some of the rooms do not have that good of a view.

We like the east wing of GCH because it is fast to the parks. We can be at the DL gate or DCA special entrance in 3-4 minutes from our hotel room door.

To piggy back on this--what about the villas? Is there a good view--Park or DTD? And, what is the best location to book if you want the quickest walk to the parks?

We had a DCA view and at night could sit and watch World of Color from our balcony. So awesome and no crowds!:yay:
