I decided to join everyone else and get a smartphone. So there are 2 I am looking at thru Verizon (have coverage thru them and they are best in my area so I am not switching companies).

First is the new IPhone....any experiences with them

Second is the Motorola Razor Maxx

Thanks or if anything else I should look at.

Want to be smart before walking into store!

do an online comparison, see which has the features you want. Keep in mind the iPhone does not have a removable battery, Droids do. :) That was a major factor for me so I went Droid, but not the one you have listed.

I am a Verizon customer. I have had several android phones and currently have an iPhone 4S. There are certain features that I like better about each platform.

The one thing that I think narrowly gives my iPhone an edge is reliability. I've had it since the week it was released and haven't had so much as a hiccup. Every single android phone I have had was glitchy. I would have to pull the battery constantly to reset it and every android I have had was replaced with a refurb at least twice.

Hi. I work for Verizon Wireless in customer service. I would have to say that both the Androids and iPhone have a lot to offer. If you want a phone that has an awesome battery life, I would go for the Razr Maxx. I've had a customer say that they had a full charge, even after three days. It is also water proof to an extent. It's also 4G. I think the iPhone has the best camera though.

I'll speak on behalf of my mother. She recently decided to go with a smartphone. She was sold a Droid (not sure which phone exactly, but it was Motorola). She had a hard time doing basic things, like placing a call. I played around with it to try to help her, but I found it to be completely non-intuitive. The iPhone's are so easy to use, and as a pp has mentioned, very reliable. I've been using them for 4 years or so now and couldn't imagine anything else.

She was able to return the phone a couple days later and she left with an iPhone 4S. She loves it and it really does take a nice picture!

I completely agree with this! My Iphone works flawlessly. I had to do many battery pulls on my Droid X when it froze or went crazy.
By the time I got rid of it, it would turn itself back on, every time I turned it off, no matter what. On a plane, I had to take the battery out to prevent that.
My Iphone never locks up, or anything.

I love my iPhone. I have no idea how I ever managed without it. :rotfl: Seriously, it's a great phone.

I agree and one up side to the Iphone with all the iphones, ipods and ipads out there if you need to charge it and don't have your charger chances are someone else will

Same here!! I had a Droid 2 and LOVED IT....that is until my husband got an iphone 4s and decided that I would like it more than him and I can't imagine life without my iphone now!!

Both my girls have iphones now and we all love them!

I have had a blackberry, an android and now an iPhone through Verizon. I personally enjoy the iPhone much more than I did the other two platforms.

The Blackberry was wonderful with email but sucked when it came to browsing the web.

The Android was okay with email and had a good internet browser but I was having to pull the battery and reset it all the time. If you do go with an Android make sure it has good internal memory. Mine had an SD card but I could only put certain apps on the SD card and it didn't take long for the internal memory to fill up and my phone was telling me I needed to delete things.

With my iPhone the email is good, browsing is great and I actually like using iTunes to manage my phone's content. Plus, Siri is a lot of fun to play with ;)

I upgraded from a Droid X about 2 months ago...I went with the Razr Maxx - this phone is hands down the best phone on the market right now on any network. With my Droid X I would have no battery life left at the end of the day unless I was plugged in at work...with my Razr Maxx - unplugged all day still have 50%+ battery life by quitting time - that's with Smart Actions turned on - WiFi on all day, making calls and receiving emails on 2 accounts as well as live weather widgets and facebook widgets. The phone is rock solid. The only down side is that it didn't come with Ice Cream Sandwich - which should be released around June. Additionally, I had some bluetooth connectivity issues with my car on my DX - problems fixed with my Razr Maxx. I am extremely happy with it.

I currently have the Droid X..it's a bit dated but it still does its job quite well. I was looking at the Droid Razr Maxx but I would prefer an iPhone as well. For now..i'm just going to wait for either a price drop or the new iPhone 5 whenever that comes out lol.

My mom is technologically impaired. Significantly.

The guy in the Verizon store was trying to sell her an android based phone. I convinced her to go with the Iphone.

She has had TWO questions for me since September when she first got the phone and ZERO problems.

This is unheard of with her, she has a laptop issue nearly daily with her Windows based system. Her laptop is probably the number one cause of fights in our family (either her/my dad or her/me).

I am a huge fan of Apple and their intuitive systems (along with their top notch tech support). I don't see the battery removal/replacement an issue. If the phone works right, you shouldn't have to take the battery out.

(I love my Verizon Iphone too)

I've had a BlackBerry, a Droid (Incredible) and now an iPhone 4S.

I will never be without an iPhone. Ever. Again.

I would suggest that you go into the store and play around with the phones before you make your decision. If you have an ipod touch, you will find an iphone incredibly easy to use. I didn't like the droids because it was too much work for me to try to figure out how to use them. It's funny because people seem to much prefer one over the other-I guess it depends on what you are used to.

I have had a Blackberry Curve for my personal phone for a long time. I absolutely love it! I can read documents on it and it is incredibly easy to use. Although it is getting way worn.
I had an Iphone for my work phone but for whatever reason I could not view work documents and my coworker and I had a bad batch. LOL I went through 3 of those. :lmao:
I now use a Droid for work. I can do everything I need to on it and the camera is great.
I ordered an Incredible 2 for my personal phone and it should get here today. Since I am familiar with the Android platform I don't forsee a problem with using the phone. Plus I played with my coworkers phone, I liked it.

I love Android. My kids have ipod touches and I hate trying to use them. I find Android easier, but that's what I'm used to.

I now have an HTC Thunderbolt. Normally my battery lasts me all day. But they are now testing 4G in my area and it's really draining my battery. I turned the 4G off. It did come with a free extended battery so I use that when I'm going to be using it heavily without having a chance to charge it.

I got the IPhone 4S. I made an appointment and had a fantastic rep at my local store. I also took my almost 17 year old son with me. She spent over an hour going over the phone and setting it up after I made my decision. Once I saw the other phone I mentioned I realized it was way too big. I have never had an Ipod or anything but my kids are teaching me. Verizon also offers Iphone classes on Saturdays....guess I need to find an available day and go.

So far I love it...right now I am adding events and love being able to just do it by voice. Thanks again everyone! I am sure there is lots to learn and it will come slowly but I so far think I did the best thing...although now both my teenagers want one!
