What's the best restaurant on property to go to for vegetarian options? I am talking about the most delicious not necessarily the biggest selection. Any specific for in the parks as well?

At Mk I loved the sandwich at Columbia Harbor house. I had the Lighthouse sandwich (yummy but messy!) with the vegetarian chilli. I plan to return next trip!

My fav TS was coral Reef. I hate mushrooms, I had called ahead saying I was a vegetarian - No mushrooms! The chef made me the best dinner I have had in a while. It was wonderful and I cannot wait to go back, we loved the place!

The worst experience I had was Le Cellier. Since I had called ahead with the same request I thought they might have something. (I would have even eaten PB & J at this point I was so hungry!) Nothing! Really, nothing! I had a bigger version of the steakhouse caesar salad. That was all they had to offer. I had the tomato stack (minus the mushrooms) for the appetizer. I was still starving when I left there! It was a waste of a TS for a salad and a tomato. We wont be going back. Here is a link to our dining review from December: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1301861

The vegetarian cheeseburger at Rosies wasnt bad in MGM. The veggie pita thing at Tusker house in AK was also good enough to get again.

Being a vegetarian myself, I am subscribing to this thread. Sci Fi has one of the best veggie burgers I have had. I also like Cosmic Rays veggie burger. I would love more input. Thanks

I like the bountiful vegetarian selection at Boma. For the money, you can't beat the quality & selection.

For counter service, we like Sunshine Seasons Food Fair at Epcot and Beaches & Cream (we get the grilled cheese there).

Definitely AVOID Jiko; they are careless in the extreme with vegetarians. We told them we didn't eat meat, and they served us one dish topped with bacon :scared1: and a carrot soup that was made with a chicken stock! I couldn't believe it; Boma, though less money and less upscale, is much more attentive for vegetarian diners.

Cheers!

Meals that stand-out to me as being really good: The vegetable sandwich at Tusker House in AK and the hummus-veggie sandwich at Columbia Harbor House in MK. The vegetable strudel at Coral Reef in Epcot was wonderful; it looked small, but coupled with a salad really filled us up. Kona Cafe at the Polynesian had a very tasty breakfast and was very accomodating for our kids' meals. I also was thrilled with Sunshine Seasons in Epcot because they have veggie sushi which is a favorite for me.

Liberty Tree Tavern. We went there with two vegetarians back in October, and the chef made them a special meal.

I agree that the lighthouse sandwich and veggie chili at Columbia Harbour House are delicious. I have those at least once each trip. I also really like the grilled portobello sandwich at ESPN Club on the Boardwalk. Sunshine Seasons in Epcot has several delicious veggie dishes.

The Electric Umbrella over at EPCOT also has a good veggie chili. I enjoyed the Morocco CS place's veggie plate, too - several bits of different things. I really like Mama Melrose's bruschetta, but only get it if you really like balsamic vinegar. :) Veggie burgers are almost always Boca Burgers, though the one at RFC is their own and I found it literally inedible. Garden Grill used to make an off-menu veg ravioli if you asked and it was really great, but someone said that may have changed. The veggie wrap at Cosmic Ray's is very good.

Also, remember that there are a lot of people calling themselves vegetarian these days - people who still eat fish or chicken, or who don't mid the soup stock or caesar dressing not being veg - and the servers don't automatically know if you're truly veg or not. I have had very good luck with politely letting my server know that things like that actually are a concern for me. I make it obvious that I'm not there to get on their case, but I would appreciate their help and that if one dish isn't veg, no big deal, I'll find something else without yelling at them. :) RFC is the one place where the server actually flat-out lied to me.

In general, asking at TS places will get you what you need. WDW chefs tend to be very good at accommodating all sorts of diets and requirements. CS places are much less flexible, but you can find options easily enough.

In the parks for CS, I liked Columbia Harbour House, Main Street Bakery (both MK), Sunshine Seasons and Tangierine Cafe (both Epcot). At MGM and AK I can't really recommend anything; the sandwich at Tusker House is reportedly not the delight it used to be. Hopefully the Yak and Yeti in AK will have some tasty veggie food when it opens; AK is lacking in veggie options.

For TS, I liked Boma and Raglan Road the best. My risotto at Raglan Road was awesome, made with white wine. Very tasty. :thumbsup2 For a character meal, I would recommend Crystal Palace.

Wolfgang Puck Cafe has many veggie choices and all are good. Spoodles, Kona Kafe and Boma are all good, too.

As cs is short for a counter service. You get your food on a tray and carry it to your table. Kinda food court style.

My sister and I travel to disney on the dining plan. We are both vegetarians, here is where we ate and what we like.

1) Boma, let them know you are vegetarian and they will walk you through the place showing you what is and what is not.
2) Wispering Canyon Cafe, they had the most tasty meal of our last trip. Its called vegetable stew but its really more like a stack or something...really really good!
3) Sci Fi Dine in, Veggie burger and pasta dish I think. Both were fine but we were full of apps. that were really yummy!
4) Mamma melrose, flat bread pizza things...we thought this place was great!
5) California Grill....lots of hub-bub about how great it is for vegetarians but we had some sort of veggie strudel that was like strange mush! Great desserts, and apps...including flat breads, salads and veggie sushi.
6) San Angel Inn, we love mexican and the veggie combo here is great, just ask for the seperate veggie menu.
7) The brittish place had a veggie shepards pie that was perfect but you can't always get that.
8) Boma breakfast buffet...we love boma what can I say.

As far as counter service, try france, morroco, columbia harbor house, the plaza or something in MK, pizzafari, tusker house. All have a good choice.

Our overall favs are columbia harbor house and Wispering canyon.

check out the vegetarian section on All Ears Net and you can see the menus there too. See what looks good to you.

Good luck, have fun and happy eating.:)

Every single person who reads this is going to think I'm insane, but:

The McDonald's in DAK (called Restaurantosaurus) has a veggie patty burger that is really amazingly good. Well, OK, not amazing. But it's the equivalent of a high-end supermarket frozen veggie patty, and a good deal better than many veggie patties on WDW property.

I had a really good veggie burger at Cosmic Ray's. (It could have been all those fried onions I put on it from the toppings bar that made it so awesome though) :)
Also, the vegetable couscous at Marrkesh and the Vegetarian Combo at San Angel Inn. Very tasty. Beware the vegetable lo mein at the China CS....it has chicken broth in it!

We just returned and had several wonderful veggie meals (I am vegetarin, my sister is vegan)...

Sci-Fi~Seared Marinated Tofu...Very yummy!
O'hanna~yes they made me a delious noodle/tofu dish. It was so great I was able to overlook all the meat around me.

Another vote for the Lighthouse sandwich at Columbia Harbour House (slaw isn't vegan), the Veggie Noodle bowl at the Noodle Station at MK was good, and the ABC commissary has veggie lo mein noodles and a good taboule wrap.

If you are concerned about stock, etc...all CS restuarants should have a black binder with a complete ingrediant list.

just had the lighthouse sandwich and vegi chili at harbor house today. the chili was eh but the sandwich was sooo good, prob best vegi sandwich ive ever had. YUM!
