Hi. We are thinking of going sometime in early '10. Previously we have only stayed at Disney for Disneyworld, so we have no experience with hotels near Universal and Sea World.

We are a family of four with two daughters, ages 8 and 5. Not looking for expensive, luxurious accommodations. Value, but not icky...clean and fun hotels are best, is our goal.

Any suggestions with reasons why would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Michele

We are in the same planning situation. Hopefully next fall we would love to visit Sea World & Universal (added on a day at Epcot & a day at MK). We are staying off-site. We are comfortable with Lake Buena Vista area, DTD area & maybe a few hotels closer to Sea World. The following hotels are on my list and have solid reviews or are mentioned many times from Disboards postings:

The Marriott Village: http://www.orlando2stay.com/

The Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista http://www.embassysuiteslbv.com/

The Doubletree Suites Downtown Disney

Residence Inn Orlando Sea World/International Center http://www.orlando2stay.com

A Brand new Hilton Garden Inn Lake Buena Vista opened in July

We are just back and stayed 2 nights at the Quality Inn Plaza at 9000 International Blvd.

LOVED IT! Located smack dab between Sea World and Universal with easy access to I-4.

Newly renovated rooms that were lovely with dark cherry wood, exceptionally comfortable beds and bedding, lot's of storage, sliding pocket doors that separated the vanity/bathroom are (I could get ready without disturbing my sleeping teens), microwave, fridge and coffee maker, iron and ironing board, blow dryer, curved shower curtain and oversized tub, several clean swimming pools and more. There is a Walmart just on the other side of I-4 just under the overpass. A million restaurants and things to do like mini golf all within walking distance. Free parking and what appeared to be shuttle bus service.

There was even a helicopter tour company right next door to our room and the room had such great sound proofing that we didn't even know it until we woke up, opened the curtains just in time to see a helicopter go zooming by our window. We were on the 6th floor of the "A" building.

We would most definitely stay there again! Our rate was under $60 per night with taxes/fees.
