Okay. I need to buy a vacuum for my camper. We have a 5th wheel camper. Lots of little spots to get into. I need one with attachments thats small, but very good. I also need to clean my carpet. I have heard if you use detergent on a carpet it only makes it track dirt more. Anybody have any pointers.

Thanks for the help.

Wish I could be of more help, but it is really up to your personal budget and vacuuming preferences. I'd just use the vacuum I had at home before you leave and bring along a small hand vac or carpet sweeper for touch ups.

Edited to add: Use carpet foam to clean up any set in dirt. Most have a carpet protector to help prevent added stains. Steam cleaning it would work, but I'd be careful about using water. Some camper sub-floors are made of particle board type stuff that doesn't agree with water well.

We have a small--can take it apart---vacumn, but I hate it---I can pick up more dirt with a broom and/or my hands than I can with the vacumn. We did have several stains on the carpet and we used the Woolite spray stuff---oxy spray clean---or something like that. That works great, but the smell is strong. I am hesitant to take my big canister vac to the camper because i would have to either leave it in the car or find a place to store it while camping and it may draw more watts than it needs to. Good luck with the vacumn search---i know I'll be checking this thread to see what others say.

Dirt devil is the way to go < hand held with atachments pick them up at yard sales <as low as 3 or 4 bucks> i have a central vac in my 5th wheel and i dont like it

I have a very small "shop vac" (like 2 gallons?) and despite its it has incredible suction... as good if not better than our household vac (a Hoover). It does have a rather ear-piercing howl though! Works great for the moho and the car though (and the cookie crumbs in the sleigh! LOL)

:santa:

I have a Dirt Devil hand held that I use in the TT when travelling. I use the regular household vac. for better cleanings when we are home and the TT is plugged in to shore power.
