We will be heading to DL for the first time in just a month  and am wondering if anyone has any good advice for using (or avoiding) the Magic Morning at the Disneyland Park? We are expert WDW travellers but have no idea which rides are best hit early, etc. We are within walking distance at the Candy Cane Inn for three mid-week nights in February. Can't wait!!!:goodvibes

1. Peter Pan (always first!!!)
2. Dumbo
3. Matterhorn/Mr. Toad/Alice
4. Pinocchio/Snow White/Mad Tea Party/King Arthur's Carousel

Unlike EMH at WDW, there is a fairly uniform opinion around here on the DLR MM. This thread sums it up:

One more question. Where does Nemo And Space Mt. figure into a suggested touring strategy? On the list that is given above we would likely skip Peter Pan and Dumbo (very close cousins of WDW as I understand it) so we might start at #3. Would it be wise to go to Nemo and then Matterhorn, then Space Mtn. followed by the dark rides?

If you are not into Peter Pan or Dumbo, personally I would hit Space Mountain first. Alternatively, I would do Nemo (because those lines are ALWAYS crazy long...they have a really bad loading/unloading scheme), then hit Matterhorn, at park opening loop back around and get Fastpasses for Space Mountain and then do Buzz Lightyear. This is assuming (since you don't want to do Peter Pan or Dumbo) that most of the story Fantasyland attractions are lower on your priority list.

Our philosophy has always been not to use MM on rides with FP like Space Mtn. Space Mtn is time consuming and can burn a big chunk of the MM.

The Fantasyland rides are usually the best bet because they are so short, are slow loaders (with long lines later in the day) and are close together. Even if you skip PP you can still do Mr Toad, Alice, Pinnocchio, Snow White, etc. in a short time, plus Matterhorn which tends to move fast during MM.

IMO Nemo Subs are not a good use of MM because it takes so long - at least 30 minutes usually. I would do Nemo early on a non-MM day. Space Mtn I would do with FP in the afternoon or evening...

Seconded.

I would definitely do Matterhorn, Alice and Mr. Toad first because those can have long lines later. Nemo takes too long. I'd ride Nemo after doing FL or in the afternoonish/evening.

I did'nt know Space was an option on MM.. so I'll look later and send you a new plan. I would do Nemo LAST on MM.. get there before the park opens and you may have 1 15 min line.. but thats not too bad... I say this because Nemo is a long ride.. and you will waste half of your MM on just one ride.

I would send a runner to Space Mountain to get FP's while the rest of the party headed to Nemo right at gate opening.

Given your preferences, I'd probably do:

- Alice
- Matterhorn (both sides)
- Toady
- Tea Cups (unless skipping)
- maybe Buzz (with better guns)
- or multiple SM (then snag a SM FP for later at :00)

Definitely do Nemo at a later time (don't waste MM on Nemo) & do Snow White, Pinocchio & the Carousel later at any time since they don't have much of a line.

Does Nemo offer FP? And are both sides of the Matterhorn usually running during MM?

No FP on Nemo and both sides of Matterhorn are usually open for MM. However, understand what this means. They sometimes run both tracks of Matterhorn but feed it from a single line. Or sometimes feed it from two lines on each side.

I would add to that if Matterhorn is running two lines. Use the Fantaslyland side. It can have half the wait, because the bigger kids who want to do Space and Buzz first come from the Tomorowland side. While little kids coming from Fantasyland aren't big enough to ride the Matterhorn and don't get in line.
