Best under-rated or over looked restaurants?

Just wondering if there are any resatuarants out there (CS or TS) that you think are very under-rated or even overlooked? I keep hearing all about Le Cellier and Coral Reef and Kona and Boma, etc. But there must be some out there that are really good that don't get the kudos they deserve.....

Overrated: IMO, CRT is overrated. Food is just average, not signature standard. they should only use 1 table service and charge for the picture.

Underrated: Artist Point. I just don't think it gets the credit it deserves. It's the best meal and service we've ever had on property by far!! Haven't tried V&A's though! Looking forward to that!

A lot of it has to do with knowing what to order, not just where to order. For example, the Cuban sandwich at ABC Commissary is pretty darned good. But the burgers there are, at best, passable. If you want a pretty good burger, go to Sci-Fi Dine in Theater. But don't order the steak at Sci-fi. If you want a steak, go to Yachtsman's. And so on.

I agree that Artist Point is the most underrated Signature restaurant. For other TS, we think Les Chefs de France is the best on property. It seems like a consolation prize for those who can't get LC, CR, TI, etc., which I don't get. We think it's much better than LC.

We had a really good meal at the Wave. It flew under my radar since it just opened but we took a chance and it was very, very good!

IMO, overlooked and underrated: The Plaza at MK. It is a little sandwich-and -ice cream TS on the corner of Main Street going toward Tomorrowland. I love the Reuben, DD loves the kids meals (her fave is the tomato soup appetizer and grilled chicken on a stick entree), DH loves the Philly Cheesesteak. A nice little place to relax, have some good, simple food, and enjoy the A/C. The Main Street "characters" (the Mayor, the Barbershop Quartet, the newspaper lady, etc) also stop in periodically to mingle with the guests. I never have a problem getting an ADR, and the prices are very reasonable for WDW.

I would rather keep an under-rated restaurant to the diners who are willing to discover them. Announcing to the entire dining population often is the beginning of the end of what made the restaurant a gem.

Don't be such a grump. The DIS is teeny-tiny compared to WDW's annual attendance of some 46 million annual park visits.

I think Marrakesh is worth a look. The food isn't oustanding, but the atmosphere and environment is really special.

Olivia's was surprisingly good, and the "family photos" make it quite charming. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but enjoy my stays at OKW that much more because it is there.

I like the Cuban *and* the Curry Bowl at ABC Commissary (even though "everyone knows" that all the food at DS is bad.)

We enjoy the atmosphere of Sci Fi---the food is pub grub standard, but the room makes the meal.

If you're faced with the necessity of a character meal, you could do a lot worse than Garden Grill. The veggies are crisp-tender, and some of them are reputedly grown in The Land---hard to get more local than that.

I would The Plaza (MK) for overlooked and underrated. The food is great and so is the service. Plus it's very pretty IMHO!

For counter service, particularly with little ones, I like Pinnochio's Village Haus in MK during the "slow" season. It seems to get a lot of bad press, but I like it. You can get a filling antipasto salad, the kids can eat pizza - and you can get a table near the plexiglass and watch the Small World boats. It isn't gourmet, but it can be nice and relaxing if you beat the lunch rush.

I was actually very surprised and impressed with the food court at Pop. The veggie lasagna was yummy and exciting for me since very few places ever serve lasagna without beef.
Marrakesh and Sunshine Seasons are two of my favorites.

Very good point. And, thanks for letting me know about the Cuban sammie at ABC. I was looking at that on the menu and 'wondered'. Now you convinced me. So if RIBS is what we want...where would you suggest the best place for those??

I agree with Brian Noble on this...not a very friendly response here on the Disboards. You have to remember that the people here on Disboards are only a very SMALLLLLLL percentage of those who go to Disney. But, hey, if you don't want to share, so be it.

Thanks for those who mentioned the Plaza. I've been looking at that but we are on the DDP and it seems so inexpensive to "waste" a TS credit on that since the prices are so reasonable. That is probably why it's a hidden secret.

I'm sorry; I haven't tried any yet. But I'm told that the ones at Flame Tree in Animal Kingdom are the best. I keep meaning to try them, but Tusker House, Boma, and Jiko keep luring us away.

Besides, ribs are such an individual thing. Some like St. Louis style, some like Kansas City style, some like Texas style . . .

But I'm willing to try any of 'em!

We were pleasantly surprised this trip by the excellent meal we had at Citricos...the food was amazing. We had gone to Cali Grill several nights before and thought Citricos was much better.
We also love Wolfgang Puck Express...the food is unbelievable for CS.
And we tried the Grand Floridian Cafe when we were rained out of the Spririt of Aloha by Fay and again thought the food was excellent.
Last year we tried the Boardway Bakery and thought the sandwiches and desserts were very good for CS.

Not fancy at all but neither was the price. We felt the best value (price you pay vs. what you get) was at ESPN on the Boardwalk.

We stayed at All Star Movies & I was so surprised at the selection in the food court. Everything I ate from the dinner menu was wonderful & the portions were large. It was comprable to what we ate at the buffet at Crystal Palace & much, much cheaper. Great for being counter service. On the same trip we also stayed at Port Orleans, French Quarter & AK & found the counter service restaraunts to be yuck. I'm just wondering if they put more effort into the food at places where there is no other choice. Marrakesh is a must on any trip we take. Not realy a meal, but anything at the Patissaire in Paris.
