Ok I made my ADR's but now I am getting a bit nervous and while I still have time I thought I would ask all you very knowledgeable people what are the best TS places for a vegetarian eating with an omni-vore???

Boma, hands down. We are a vegetarian family and there were soo many things to choose from.

Is that a buffet? That is the other thing I really dislike buffets, I am too picky of an eater and I just tend to dislike them (ok except the DLH Brunch and Belagios).

Yes Boma is a buffet. It is African based food in Animal Kingdom Lodge. We actually found buffets at WDW to be a good choice for vegetarians, as most had several options. Many other table service meals have one set veggie option at best.

The thing about Boma that was so nice was that for once as vegetarians we had plenty of choices. I'd guess at least 50% of the buffet is vegetarian, and not just the typical pasta primavera veggies always get stuck with. Actual interesting choices.

When you say you are a picky eater, what do you mean? What kind of food are you looking for?

I am looking for something kind of romantic for DH and I for my birthday. Probably not a lot of kids, while I like them I kind of want something a little more ADULT for the evening after a day at the parks with other people's lil' cuties ;)

I like to try new cusines that I have never tried before, I like some high dining, and love WINE!

I am pretty open about styles of food its more that as much as I am willing to try everything so often I see boring versions of the same old, same old flavorless stuff at buffets. I think it is also the experience I find weird I like to be served if I am going to spend a bunch of money

But as I said I LOVE the Disneyland Hotel Easter Brunch and enjoyed Beliagios Buffet a lot, and I have to say Goofy's kitchen wasn't bad. So since Disney has two buffets I like maybe it's an idea. Since it looks like we are going to probably be adding another night I might just need to try it though.

How the other TS? I currently have ADR's at Jiko, Citricos and V&A, how are they? I assume V&A should be like Napa Rose willing to create something for me or am I wrong?

I hope V&A can live up to Napa Rose cause let me tell you I am still craving those sundried tomato crepes and the asparagus soup YUMMY!

Thanks so much for your help!!!

Sorry I can't help you with any "fine" veggie dining info, we have a 4 yo and a 2 yo. Now veggie options at character meals...that's more up my alley.

I'm sure someone else will know though! Good luck!

I can imagine that can make it tough hahaha!!

One last question cause this you might be able to help with, is there anywhere to find out what is "safe" at CS in the parks?

Last time we went it took four people almost twenty minutes to find the book to tell me what I could and couldn't eat at the Mexican food place at MK :confused3 It was awful! I would like to avoid this.

Thanks again!

Allears.net has menus online in its dining section. There is also a vegetarian advice section.

For counter service, I liked Sunshine Seasons in the Land at Epcot. They have a decent beet and goat cheese salad. My kids split the veggie stir fry there and it was also good.

I'm a vegetarian and not a big fan of buffets, but there is not one single "ordinary" thing at Boma; if you can get a table, you will love it.

Almost every restaurant has at least one vegetarian item, and chef's are very open to special requests.

One of the best vegetarian meals I had was at the Yachtsman's Steak House, it was a portobello lasagna. Citrico's had a good tofu dish, California Grill always has something interesting (like pumpkin ravioli). The menus seem to change fairly frequently at some of these places, but other than the sit-down restaurant in the Mexican pavilian, I've always been able to find something.

As others have said, Boma is very good with lots of vegetarian options. I also had a delicious eggplant dish at Mama Melrose. There are several vegetarian choices there in addition to the one I had, and though some people on these boards don't like it, we loved our meal and are returning there in about 4 weeks.

You may then want to try California Grill (or perhaps Artist Point), if you don't want a buffet for your birthday dinner. CG has a long reputation for being veggie-friendly, it is upscale and has a nice view.

But if you can squeeze in a Boma dinner somewhere during your trip, I don't think you will be sorry you chose a buffet. They have great food for vegetarians and omnivores, and believe me you won't be stuck with salad, mashed potatoes and pasta marinara.

V&A definitely will take care of a vegetarian, no problem. Here's a veggie menu from 2 years ago: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_vaveg.htm

If you call V&A a day or two before your reservation, your personalized menu will include ONLY vegetarian items, probably two selections for each course.

When we ate there 2 years ago, DH and I received different personalized menus...his had fowl and vegetarian options (he is leery of seafood), mine had seafood and vegetarian options (I eat seafood). Not a spec of red meat on either menu.

As a veggie who travels with meat-eaters, I highly recommend California Grill for a romantic dinner. They have a couple of options on the menu but the chef will gladly discuss any questions you may have and may also prepare something off the menu for you. It is pricy, but so beautiful, especially if you plan your reservation with Wishes. Other non-buffet TS I can recommend:

Coral Reef - Beautiful setting and there is always an interesting and tasty veggie option. Again, very accomodating chef/waitstaff if you wish for something different.

Marrakesh - Located in Morocco Pavillion in Epcot. Great veggie couscous dish in a lovely setting complete with belly dancer.

San Angel Inn - Located in Mexico in Epcot. They have a very nice veggie combo dish that is not on the main menu. You must ask for the vegetarian menu which I believe has another option as well. I eat there every trip since the food is tasty and the ambience can't be beat. I have never had trouble with service as others have written but I speak Spanish and I think that helps.

Have fun on your trip!

The most accomidating I ever had was Coral Reef, they were high above the others! They were so helpful and the food was wonderful!

The worst was Le Cellier, the waiter acted like it was a huge inconvience to tell me they had NOTHING but the tomato stack and ceaser salad. (And the salad would be a problem if you are vegan.) He acted like being a vegetarian in a steakhouse was the ultimate sin or something. The rest of the family loves a good steak, so we went there for them.

As far as CS, columbia harbor house in MK has the vegetarian chilli that was good, and the lighthouse sandwich! That sandwich is wonderful, I think it was hummas with brocolli slaw. Also a few places have veggie burgers if you can stomach them. The wrap at Tusker house at AK was edible but nothing to write home about.

As a vegetarian, I would suggest avoiding Jiko. They made 2 major goof-ups with our dishes, despite the fact that we'd put in our request early & had spoken with all the right people. They served us a carrot soup made with a chicken stock base. They served us a fish dish (we're pescatarians, so eat fish) topped with bacon - definitely a big no-no.

We were really disappointed in the quality of the experience here, and, the few times that we've gone, we've always found Jiko highly overrated. I know that Boma is a buffet, but, honestly, it's GOOD food, which is more than I can say of much that I've eaten at the more upscale places.

If you like good food & good wine, I'd suggest the California Grill. You can read our reviews of each below:

And yes, Victoria & Albert's will customize pretty much anything you want; you just have to let them know well enough in advance. They have done several special requests for us - that's part of the 5 diamond appeal.

Cheers!

We had a great meal at Le Cellier in January. DH is non-veg, and I am veg. They only had one veg meal (different than what is now listed on allears.net), but it was excellent. I was worried about the tomato "relish", and the chef came out and chatted with me. Everything was excellent. We are planning to go there next time (January 2008).

Dinner at Crystal Palace (buffet and character meal with Pooh and friends) also had a lot of options and great food.

I agree with those posters who claim that Coral Reef and Le Cellier are excellent choices for vegetarians. My wife, who is a vegetarian, was prepared a special vegetarian meal from the chefs at each restaurant. She felt that both Coral Reef and Le Cellier were her two favorite meals of the vacation. (She is a vegetarian but also hates mushrooms and has to ask for special vegetarian meals since many are prepared with mushrooms).

Another satisfied customer for LeCellier -
I've eaten there both of my trips (as the only veg in my omni-vore family) and was very pleasantly surprised both times. Last time around the chef (who told us he was a veggie as well) came out to chat - which was really nice.

I have no problems with mushrooms so I happily ate the veg option that was on menu in October - and was super impressed.

Some of our favorite Vegetarian Dining options in Disney are:
Jiko
Boma (buffet)
Yacht Club Galley (they have a couple of tasty selections and have modified others for us)
California Grill
Ohana (believe it or not...they have a very tasty vegetarian tofu dish)
