Looking ahead to a possible solo trip in the fall and thinking about dining. What are your recommendations for best TS for the solo diner? I have no qualms about dining alone, but recognize that some locations may be better than others for this. Are there any places in particular that offer the opportunity to join with other parties - solo or otherwise - to enjoy the meal together and share our love of Disney?

Teppan Edo at Epcot seats you with other guests at a big table. (Japanese)
Biergarten at Epcot also seats you with other guests at a large table. (German food)
Via Napoli at Epcot. They don't seat you with other guest, but it would be a good place to go solo and enjoy a pizza.

I had wondered that about Teppan Edo and had forgotten about Biergarten! Thanks :)

You can also grab a spot at the bar in the Tune-In Lounge at the 50s Prime Time and order from the full menu.

When I've gone solo, I have done Kona and Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast. I'm a big breakfast eater, it is my favorite meal of the day. These are both very nice and quiet places for a great breakfast before starting the day in the parks. I haven't done any dinners solo, since when I went solo I met up with friends who were there the same time as me and we did our dinner together. Teppan Edo is one I'd probably do for dinner solo!

This is me too. I absolutely LOVE breakfast. These are two great places for solo diners!
Teppan Edo & Biergarten are great for those eating alone. Also, call me crazy, but I think SciFi would also be a good place for a soloist.

Yes, I didn't even think of Sci-fi. But they might seat you in a car with another family if you don't mind that. That would also sound like a great meal to do solo. When we went to 50's Prime Time in November, there was a solo diner seated right next to us at a smaller table - he said he goes there all the time solo and loves it. We actually spent a lot of time talking with him until he left. I love meeting new people, especially when I go solo!

You will definitely be seated behind another family.....I've rarely seen that place empty enough for a party of two to get their own car. But thats the bonus, ppl looking around (which i doubt anyone cares) will look at your car and just assume that youre with that family. This is nice for those that are nervous dining solo. Me, I dont give a hoot. I'll eat solo just about anywhere. :)

I've also seen solo diners at 50's. Honestly pretty much everywhere.

My favorites when dining solo are 50s PTC (at bar when I don't make an ADR, or at a table when I do), Sci-Fi (usually just do that as a walk-up and get the 3rd seat in a car) and the Plaza in MK.

Done solo a couple of times and will do so again this year. My favorites are many: Yak & Yeti, Via Napoli, Hollywood Brown Derby, BOMA, Wave Lounge (they let me eat off the full Wave menu).

When I go solo, I choose TS (and CS) that my kids don't like.

Its so nice eating food I enjoy without listening to complaining (or, afterwards, having to deal with crabby kids (b/c they didn't eat enough). My kids are usually with me at WDW, so its fun to try restaurants that only I like the food at when alone. On the next family trip, I don't pine away for that restaurant, as I went when solo.

This is one thing I'm highly considering.

If solo and wanting to be seated with others then I agree that Teppan Edo and Biergarten are good options. If I was dining alone and didn't want to be seated with others I'd consider a bar - The Wave might be a good option, and there are numerous places in Disney Springs. I believe California Grill has a bar but haven't been. How about Tutto Italia? I find the atmosphere there very nice.

On edit, meant Tutto Gusto, not Tutto Italia.

I go often solo and I just dine where I like to eat, I usually read on my ipad or iphone during dinner and don't pay attention to what others are doing. I say eat where you want and enjoy!

I've gone solo to Disney multiple times (mostly for running the races.) I've dined solo mostly at the bars---Raglan Road and Portabello in Disney Springs, the counter at Beaches and Cream at Beach club, the wine cellar at Tutto Gusto in Epcot...this last trip I also dined solo at Shutters at CBR (where I was staying.)

.
I have a toddler so I TOTALLY get this. (His school and his babysitter want to rush his toilet training. I would rather they rush his table manners!!!! Especially the part where he reads a book or sits quietly while I finish my meal without rushing.) It's the primary reason I am planning a solo trip.

Is there Regular table seating at Tune in Lounge along with Bar Seating? Sounds like I can do an easier Dinner without doing an ADR. Mom's coming with me, so trying to not ADR her and I out in case she doesn't want to join me for evening time.
