After two day's at the Royal Pacific Hotel we move to the Disney Beach resort on 10/20 for the start of our 4 day land and 3 day cruise. Checking into the Beach club after staying at the RPR made the BC not as impressive as it otherwise might have been. For the money, I would stay at a US hotel and visit Disney. Our rooms were fine - ground floor on the side of Epcot, but our kids were not really impressed with our first visit over to Epcot. Upon our arrival, we thought we would spend a little time visiting Epcot before our MNSSHP started that evening. Our first visit was to Test track - 75 minute wait, and Fast past return times were 4 hours later. This was a bad way to start off as we just visited US and used the express pass line the entire time as guest of there resort.
Our strategy would change as the day's went on. We left Epcot after a few hours and headed to the Magic Kingdom for the MNSSHP. This was a must do. The only time we waited in line was for the Autopia cars. The rest of the time, we walked right on to rides and we even had the CM asking if we just wanted to stay on and ride again. I cant' imagine how any night at a park could be better. You walk around, get some candy or free popcorn, ride the rides without waiting. Doesn't get much better, but yes it does.
Day 2 had us sleeping in, using the Stormalong Bay pool, and then we were off to Blizzard Beach for an afternoon of killer waterslides. My husband still has a bruise from Summit plummit.
Blizzard beach slides make the Atlantis slides look like a kiddies park in comparison.
Day 3 - We used the early entry philosophy this day and spent the first half of the day at MGM. We rode the tower of terror and rockin roll roller coaster both twice before the park opened to the regular folk. Second half of the day was spent messing around at the pool and then a few of us went back to MK for a few quick rides on the big three (Space Mtn, Thunder, and Splash Mountain). Off to dinner at Rainforest. Had a great coconut shrimp there.
Day 4 - Early entry at Epcot - Had to ride test track at least once to see what the fuss was all about, got there and walked onto the ride. I would have been really bummed out if I had waited for 75 minutes to ride this ride. Kids wanted to do it one more time before heading off to AK. We arrived at AK again, no lines on anything. Kids made us ride the Rapids 2 times and we were soaked. Bit of advice I did not read hear - Take your shoes and socks off and place them in the water proof thing in the center of the raft. You will be glad you did. You will get soaked.
We had reservations for dinner at 7:30 at the Tepanyaki place in Epcot - Japan. Dinner was excellant, as we were leaving dinner at 9pm, it started to pour. Imagine the beautiful Illuminations show being done in a rain storm, with lighting all around. It was surreal. We all had ponchos, so we were ready for the rain and the walk back to Epcot. This was the first time it had rained our entire trip.
Day 5 - Found us taking it easy and heading out to port canaveral around 11:00am.
Will post cruise portion on Cruise site.
