Best Treadmill--

I am wondering what types of home treadmills people are having good luck with. Last year Costco had the Reebok v7.90 treadmill for $599 so I purchased on...fast forward to now. I have had 2 motors AND the roller belt replaced all under warranty and it still makes a horrible grinding noise. Thankfully Costco is great about returns and will take it back. I have dealt with Reebok and didn't want to return it BUT in order for it to be replaced by Reebok a tech has to declare unrepairable and then it goes to a department who decides what they will do. Don't want to deal with that...Costco doesn't sell this anymore and from online reviews it appears to be an issue with this model.

I saw a Proform one at Sam's club that was $499. I am just asking if there is a brand or type that someone has that is just a good allover treadmill. I would like to keep the price no more than the $599+tax that I paid originally.

I have a golds gym one that I got from walmart that I believe was $ 399 and I use it everyday and run on it also and haven't had any problems yet I would highly recommend it

We've always bought proform. Our last treadmill probably lasted 6 or more years. It was used by 2 families, my uncle bought it for himself to run (200lbs) and then when he wanted to trade up gave it to my family. My DH and I ran it to the ground. We finally did get rid of it because it got stuck on the highest incline and wouldn't go back down. So yeah, it broke but when I guess 6 years old it was probably older.

We have a proform elliptical now and love it. I miss our treadmill but needed a change.

My suggestion would be go to a local sports store and try it out. I like more of the bulky treadmills. I'm not large by any means but feel more supported while running the higher speeds. You can test them out there and then buy at Sams.

Don't go cheap on the treadmill and test them out!

I bought a cheap one before and it lasted about 1 year.

We bought a Horizon treadmill from a Fitness store in 2003. It is still running and we've never had a problem with it. It was around $800 at the time. Best investment we've made on a piece of exercise equipment.

I have a life fitness one, cost about $3000, got it 8 years ago, and no problems. I use it about 4 times a week, run on it, DH uses it, my older kids use it. I also have a lifecycle that still works. Bought used for $500 20 years ago.

Sold the first because we were moving overseas and bought the second overseas (different voltage).

bought the first at Play it Again Sports. Never had a problem. DH ran on it, he's about 180 lbs and runs fast. I ran almost every day.

Thought about hooking the dog up to it but decided against that.....

I have a Image treadmill that I got from Costco 10 years ago. It was around $1200 at Costco and $1700 retail.

It is still running strong, even after dropping it while moving....oops.....

Thanks for all the replies! I went to Sears and looked at Nordic Track. Found one I really like. Still want to hit a few other places before committing, it is so hard to find one--- see one that looks good then read online reviews and see some good and some bad for almost everything. Will not do another Reebok. It is hard since ICON makes most of the treadmills these days. Know what to look for so the motor assembly is not the same as the current one we have...granted that could be a 'lemon' but don't want to risk.

I have a Precor and I absolutely love it! It is almost 7 years old now and not a single problem. I use it 5-6 days a week, running, and even trained for a marathon on it. It is super sturdy and pretty quiet. Precor is more expensive but it was totally worth it for me. I have just a basic model, not a lot of programs or bells and whistles. If I recall I bought it for about 1700 on sale.

I like to read the long version of the report before buying anything...

They like the sole F80 but I like the 85 a lot better...

Also I am somewhat suspect that the sole F85 review sites might be biased to positive??? Anyway it is a good treadmill for us.

2 Horizons here as well - 1st one was a freebie and needed a part. Bought the part but couldn't figure how to install it. But we used it for 2 years before we needed the repair. Sold it to someone with the part who fixed it for themselves.

Meanwhile bought another Horizon for 25% discount at Sports Authority. It was about $550 with tax after everything and has worked well for several years.

Three years ago I bought a Nordic Trak for $600 at Sears. Best money I ever spent. I used it 6 times a week, helped me lose 40 pounds and it's still going strong.

Bought a Sears for under $500 years ago, maybe 10 years ago and not an issue. It is not used daily, does not have bells and whistles, but the few days a week it is used has not had anything replaces. Not sure what model but it would have been something with no heart rate and lift to incline.
