We are staying at Cypress Pointe Grandvillas and with a large group, a couple of them young, restless children we were thinking of having more take out food than usual and would like any input you might have.

I know there is a Uno's and Giordiano's pizza and was wondering which might be better? Also heard Macaroni Grill does to go large portion meals and know Quizmo's is down the street. Want to avoid Burger King, KFC and MCd's type places, but what other take away food is close by and good? Any one try take away Indian or Chinese in that area?

Any ideas would help.

I got Chinese at the little restaurant in the shopping mall with Winn Dixie right next to Cypress Pointe, and I thought it was really good (I hate mediocre Chinese food). I asked for extra baby corn for my boys' dish, since they love it and they loaded it up, and asked for mine to be extra spicy and it was. The lady at the front was very nice, also.

I would go to Sams or the Publix and buy things like the family size lasagna or similar frozen items. Add a salad and a loaf of french bread and you can feed the masses for very little. The Publix would also have things like chicken and cold salads. One big grocery trip and you'd be set for the week without waiting for takeout!

You could also do things like buy a big can of chili and make Petros (chili, Fritoes, tomatoes, sourcream, and cheese), nachos or just serve with cheese and crackers.

We usually do one cooking evening and do up a few things like taco meat, baked chicken, the frozen stuff mentioned above, etc. Then it's pretty much heat and eat the rest of the week. Great with a varied group like ours who never wants the same thing to eat or to eat at the same time.

I got a takeout menu for Giordano's and it was very expensive for Italian food. One plain pizza was almost $14. When I can get those for $5 here $14 was too much.

I agree with the Winn Dixie comment. There is also a Poppa John's pizza place next to it.

As soon as I saw "Petros" I knew you were from East Tennessee... I don't think the name traveled far outside of there. (And I LOVE those things!!!!)

On the takeout subject. One of my favs is Outback. I usually get two meals out of a steak meal. The takeout salad is HUGE and I just save some of the steak, add it to the salad and the next day's lunch is ready! :moped:

many of the major chains, Ruby Tuesdays, Outback, Chilis etc have take out.

I will also second the Publix suggestion...the chicken is very good. Also they make great subs.

If you don't have a budget, don't forget that Wolfgang Pucks express at DD also does take out.

We got a stuffed pizza from Giordano's for about $17 (with a coupon that was in a tourist guide/book in the lobby of our hotel) and it was enough to feed our family of 5 two times. In fact, it's one of the meals that my DDs look forward to when we visit.

I love Giordanos! It might be a little pricey, but I love Italian food and their pizza and fettuchini alfredo is very yummy! I try to talk DH :earsboy: into going there at least once every time we are in Orlando. I've never tried take out, but I'm sure they offer it. I think the pizza is made to order, so you might want to call in the order ahead of time, instead of ordering and waiting on location.

If you like deep dish pizza or Italian food in general. I think Giordanos is worth the splurge! Manga!

I especially loved them during the 1982 World's Fair when they cut open the Fritoes bag and built them in there. :goodvibes

They are still around in the malls and a couple of stand alone locations, but they just dump generic corn chips in a container. Sometimes they're a little on the stale side. Not nearly as good.

We make them at home a lot.
