Best time to hit Typhoon Lagoon

I'll be solo the day I'm going to TL, and have no other plans for the day. I don't really care that much about getting on the popular slides, am thinking it will be a lazy river kind of day as it's the middle of my trip and I'm expecting to be tired. Maybe a few raft rides, not big into the wedgie maker body slides LOL.
Given I have no time restraints, is it better to go at park opening, or go mid afternoon when families with little ones may be taking a break? Or would I then run into the afternoon downpour? As long as there is no lightning, do the water parks stay open during rainstorms? It's hot and everyone is wet anyway I figure!

I would go at opening like we did a week ago and secure a chair with an umbrella. Or a chair under the thatched roofed things right past Miss Adventure Falls.

Am thinking I may just get a locker and stow all my stuff for the day, and not worry too much about a chair. I may change my mind though when I get there and see how much I want shade! It is supposed to be in the 90's and muggy all week here in MA though - I should make sure I walk hours a day in it to get used to it!

I would get there early enough to get a chair and shade. Other than the big rides, the lines for the other slides and rafts generally are not bad. Bring water shoes or sandles. The concrete is rough and can get very hot. Both are tough on the feet.

You can get a shaded chair anytime of the day, there are more than enough. If you're just doing the lazy river and a few tube rides, honestly you can just show up whenever you want. Only the "big" slides get really long lines, and that's during midday.

Water shoes or sandals are a personal thing. I despise them, they're nasty. The pavement can get hot in spots, but they also spray a lot of them down to keep them cool.
