Best time to go?

Never been to DL or California for that matter. Been to DWD mainly in July and hate the humidity. Went in April last year and loved it. When is best weather and crowds at DL? Two possible times are last week of august up to Labor Day or second week October.

I'd take second week of October over the last week of August. Many districts don't begin school until after labor day so lots of kids will still be on summer vacation in August.

Last year, October got pretty nuts, especially in the middle when a lot of fall breaks are place. I would not count on mid-October being better than summer.

If you care about Halloween, if you want to do a Halloween party, then obviously October is a better choice.

If you'd be there right after the lower level AP blocks end, it could be pretty crazy. Especially this year, if even any one of Railroad, ROA, TSI or F! reopens while they're blocked, people will stream back in. Disney also did an AP Days promotion in August/September last year and probably will again this year. On the other hand, the Halloween crowds start earlier and earlier this year as more parties sell out and people start coming earlier to go to the parties and on non-party days to avoid them. The weather can be equally hot into October as August, but I'd still probably take October for Halloween time and the likely chance that some days will have better weather than most of August.
