Hey all!! I am in need of help. My mom and I have decided to keep up with our every other year tradition of going to disney, but are torn on when to go. I am currently pregnant with out first little babe, a girl, and am due in December. DH and I have talked about nothing but a 1st birthday trip, which would be in December of 2015, but then my mom and I got to talking about how close it would be to her first real christmas, and maybe going October.

We have been both times of the year, and love them both, so now we are torn. She we hold out and go in December for her 1st birthday, or go in October when she will be 10 months. I have always dreamed of a 1st birthday trip in disney, but don't want to miss out on her first christmas at home either. Thoughts, opinions, personal experiences?

Another thing we are considering, is that my parents go to sanibel for the month of January, so it puts them going to Florida, home for Christmas, then back to Florida. We also go the third week of January to sanibel, so it would put our trips with a 1 year old back to back with Christmas and New Years in the middle.

I think that a first birthday at WDW sounds magical. I personally vote for that. Why can't you go to WDW and have Christmas at home? I'm a bit confused on that.

I can speak from experience that if you have to have Christmas on a different day, it still feels like Christmas. I am an RN and had to work Christmas Day 2013. DD was 16 months at the time, so I was really disappointed about "missing Christmas". Santa dropped our gifts off a day early and we celebrated on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas day. You know what? It was still a wonderful, magic day filled with love and memories. And when I look back at the photos and videos, I forget that we did it a day early. So if your family has to celebrate Christmas at home a week early to accommodate your trip, it would still feel like Christmas. December 25th is just a day that man picked to honor and celebrate the Christ's birth, not the actual historical date of His birth, so no matter when you do it, if your heart is in it, then it will feel right.

But that's just my 2 cents.

Early November? MVMCP is up and running, and the parks are decorated. Then you can be home for Christmas as well.

We will not be going to Disney over Christmas, but 2 weeks before. We would still be home for Christmas, it would just be rushed, and my parents would turn around and go back to florida less than a month later, and we would be going back a little over a month later. That is the biggest debate. Would it be worth all of the hustle and bustle to go for a 1st birthday versus at 10 months.

Ooooo!!!! I hadn't thought about that. That may be a good idea. Have you ever been in November? How were the crowds?
