Best time to go?

What month is the best time to visit Disneyland if you want lower crowds and you would like to be able to swim? We are Disneyworld frequent visitors but I am not all that familiar with CA weather. Is a high of 70 okay for swimming like it is in Florida? Thanks for the help!

Personally, I would not swim when it's in the 70's, but that's just me. DLR is not nearly as humid as WDW. This thread by HydroGuy should help you:

I would guess that your best bet is to go after Labor Day, but before the start of HalloweenTime. It's kind of an in between time, because schools are back in session and there isn't any real "season" occurring at DLR. Otherwise, I would look into the time period after Spring Break and before summer (maybe early May). Although for 2015 this might not work because the 60th anniversary events are supposed to start in the "spring" which might mean higher crowds than have been historically seen for the post-spring/pre-summer period.

If the high is 70, it will not be warm enough to swim, unless your hotel has a heated pool. It's difficult to tell when the 'best' time is--we were there last February and it was perfect! Beautiful weather, moderate crowds, very few ride closures. That said, I've been to DL in Feb when it rained heavily and the park was PACKED. You can count on summer being HOT, but any other time can be very comfortable. Of course, there are no guarantees. Summer, weekends and holidays will have large crowds. One of my favorite times to go is 1-2 weeks after Thanksgiving. The crowds are light, the Christmas decorations are up, usually all the rides are working and hotel/transportation costs are as low as they ever are.

Actually, you can't count on that either. We visited in July a couple summers ago and it barely broke 70 degrees F all week. We had sweaters with us for mornings and evenings.
