The most "pleasant" months weather wise in the UK are June through August. No surprise there. :p

I must say that I have little experience of being a tourist in the UK as I spend my vacations in WDW. What I would suggest though is posting this on the DIS UK Boards where you will be bomarded with replies.

We are a knowledgeable lot who are happy to help. It's just that I don't know the answer to this one. ;)

"See you" there.

I used to live over, and I still miss it. It's a wonderful place to visit in the summer. I don't know as much about Ireland, but I can make recommendations for Scotland, Wales, and England if you tell me how long you you have to travel and what type of things interest you. It's a big area.

I haven't been to Wales(I'm sure it's wonderful). You are in for such a treat:D

I went on a whirlwind tour through England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland and it was so wonderful! Some of the highlights of the trip were Stonehenge (amazing), Edinburgh Castle, Cliffs of Moher (Ireland - breathtaking and windy!! LOL), Book of Kells at Trinity College, LOTS of churches castles and pubs. It got to be a joke after people asked me what I saw and did - I would say, "church, castle, castle, bar, pub, pub, pub, church, castle, castle, castle". I visited the Guinness brewery and the Waterford Crystal factory. Bath England was very interesting. Wow, I'm babbling. PM me if you want anymore info.

Here's a link to some online photos of my trip:

Be careful when planning a trip overseas in August. Places literally shut down for a couple of weeks because that is when they go on holiday.

i think that's more true on the continent. i never had a problem with things shutting own in the uk in august.

as a matter of fact, i LOVE going to scotland in august because then you can go to the fringe festival and military tattoo!!!

Where was that then??? Never known anything to shut down in August before. I have seen some places close for the colder months Jan/Feb/March but most of the bigger attractions are open all year.

Wow - how long are you coming for??? Apart from Loch Ness (and Nessie!) what type of things do you like??? There are so many tourist attractions just in England that I could recommend but that would probably fill your vacation up!

My advice would be to buy some guide books first and write down the things you really want to see then we can tell you whether its feasible in the time frame that you have.

We went to the UK for our honeymoon for 9 days and 1500 miles of driving.
We saw the Cliffs of Dover, Stonehenge, Wales, Dublin, Nottingham, Scotland and York.
