We are trying to plan a large group trip and i'm wondering if it's better to go in the Fall (September) or Spring (April or May).

I'm not concerned about taking the kids out of school for a week. I really want to pick a time where we won't be waiting in 2 hour + lines. I have a son who is Autistic and is not a fan of lines. We went the end of September a few years ago and the lines were great. I am also wondering about the weather. It rained a little each day when we went but it wasn't too bad. How is the rain in the Spring?

Thanks in advance :) I knew I needed to go to the Disney Experts for some answers.

Hi, we have gone in spring (May) & fall (Sept & Oct) and find that the fall is much better for crowds & weather. Plus it seems now you can get free dining!

Our very first trip was in May when the kids were really little. It was so much fun that we went back in November!

That being said, the May we were there, the temps were over 90 degrees every day. We melted.

When we went next time it was in early November and the weather was perfect and there were no lines...we walked on everything.

If school weren't an issue here, I'd go in the fall.

Have fun planning!

In order of quietest to busiest:
Fall (September) - Kids are back to school so if you before the end of Sept. you should do great "crowd-wise". End of Sept. is the start for the Food & Wine Fest that brings more people.
Spring (May) - I love this time of year and usually go over Mother's Day weekend! The Flower & Garden is going on and the weather is usually nice, with the exception of last year when it was HOT!! Earlier in the month is quieter than the end around Memorial Day.
Spring (April) - Never been in April but lots of Spring Breakers, sometimes Easter vacation so I'll put this as my last.
How is the rain in the Spring?
When I've been there I didn't see much rain in May - more so over the summer months with the daily thunderstorms.

HTH!!! :goodvibes

We love going in september! The crowds were low and the weather was great!
Why don't you look into getting a GAC (guest assistance card) for your son with autism? I don't know anything about the card but from what I've read it can help in situations like yours!
Have a GREAT trip!

To find out more about Guest Assistance Cards, click on the link in my signature to get to the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Look in post #6 of that thread to find out everything you need to know about GACs.

Many people have found that using a good touring plan is even much more helpful than a GAC. The GAC will only help in attractions, but a touring plan/service like TOurGuide Mike or RideMax can help you to be in the quietest part of the quietest park. Many people who used GACs in the past have found that is even more helpful with their special needs than the GAC was. This thread has a few people’s recent experience with TourGuide Mike being very helpful in shortening their wait in lines so they did not need to use the GAC, even though they had one.
