Sept., Oct., or Nov.? Give me your thoughts on best time to go in the fall. Obviously lower crowds, decent weather and minimal refurbs are top on the list! We are currently planning for the week of Nov. 11-16 as we were hoping to catch some of the Christmas decorations as they go up. What are your thoughts on the best time to go in fall?

Are there any rides they consistently refurb during Nov.?

Thanks for any tips!

I went those days just this last year and it was great! All of the days were manageable although it was veterans day weekend. The start of the official holidays was fantastic as well. We did 5 days, but got everything in the parks done with little ones in tow.

I've been in mid October and it was much warmer, but also nice. This was before the halloween parties though, so I can't speak for how it goes with those during the month of October and part of September. I'll find out this year :)

Thanks for the reply! Do you remember when during that week the Christmas decorations were going up (or were they already up when you arrived?) - were there any other special holiday events going on besides the Christmas fireworks? Looking at the calendar from last year and doesn't look like they have a Christmas parade of any kind?

FWIW, those are not obvious at all for "best time to go" issues. :)

They are for some people and not others - including me. Low crowds means low season which means less entertainment and more refurbs. Offseason works best for folks who visit DLR more regularly (at least twice a year) or who have issues with crowds (mobility / wheelchair /etc.).

By far the best time to visit for low crowds, decent weather and minimal refurbs is May.

November is more likely to have rain and recent years have had lots of washed out vacations for some folks. Just sayin'. See "Detailed Weather Data for DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23004158

There are rumors of Big Thunder Mtn RR and the Indiana Jones ride being down for refurb this fall. Nothing is regularly scheduled for refurb during mid-Nov. Christmas decorations generally are up in the Nov 10-16 time frame.

Thank you, I was just reading all your fabulous posts. I appreciate the info. on Nov. Gonna have to make a hard decision this year.. outrageous plane tickets to DW and refurbs of some great rides at DL. Rain doesn't bother me too much, however, we Seattleites believe umbrellas are for the weak. :D
