I have stayed at three of the moderate resorts in the past and I would like to try a deluxe next trip. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best time to book to get the lower rates? I am interested in trying the Poly.

A discount during value season would be your best bet. The seasons are laid out on the WDW website, but generally speaking, value 1 season starts sometime after New Years until about presidents day, and then value season 2 starts mid July-ish through fall.

We get a PIN (through Disney Destinations e-mail) every year around late June for end of August through September dates for up to 40% off. We are taking advantage of Beach Club discounted rooms and leaving on Saturday! Otherwise, we wouldn't have even tried the Deluxe Resorts yet -we'd still be dreaming.

We have also been able to stay at the Wilderness Lodge without a PIN because the rates are not as high as the other Deluxes.

Enjoy!

If you would be willing to do a different deluxe than poly you could try renting dvc points from someone. For us this is turning out to be WAY cheaper than a discount given through Disney!

If you want a discount, you should wait until after the discounts are released before you book. Disney has been very specific about availability recently, so you won't be doing yourself any favors by booking something before you have an applicable discount. Also, room-onlys haven't been all that great, even for AP holders. So unless you're in the military or get a pin in your email, the best you'll probably be able to get is 35% on a Deluxe.

In general, discounts tend to be released around 3 months in advance for the first available dates. They've been coming out a little earlier lately.

Thank you so much for the information, I appreciate it. I have noticed you can rent points for DVC, but I've yet to figure out how it works. I will have to read up on that option.

Renting can be a considerable amount of savings, but be aware, because you usually have 24 hours to pay for what you need, when you book. And you better hope that nothing comes up because I've heard there's no backing out. Unlike direct through Disney where you get ample enough time to change and switch, and change again...w/out losing any $$$.

Usually can rent for like 12 or 13 dollars per point needed. Good Luck.

Our previous stays at the POLY have all been in Sept. with a 40% off "room-only" discount. No such luck this year, the POLY discount was only 20%.

The only deluxe pin I have ever got was for the CR, our least favorite. Never received one for the POLY :(.

We are staying this Sept. trip at the Dolphin.

How do you get a pin?

Join AAA and use the discount.

Just saved a total of $142 for 2 rooms at the CR in April with my AAA discount. Still paid alot of money (IMHO) for the rooms, but WTH, it's a Disney vacation!
Should at least be able to get a CS meal with my $142 savings...lol :rotfl2:

Karen:)
