Best Time to Eat at Jiko?

We're leaving in 2 days and we have reservations on Saturday for Jiko. We're not staying at AKL so this will be our only time to see the animals. What time would you choose to eat there? We currently have ADR's at 8:55 because we heard somewhere that way we'd be able to see the animals come in for the night before dinner. But is that true? Should I call and see if I can move that reservation up?

You cannot see animals from the restaurant but you can tour the grounds and view them.

We did Jiko at 5:30 and it was perfect, very empty restaurant, nice and quiet and super attentive server

Ditto to this. We had a 6:00 ressie and it was great. The restaurant wasn't too full and we had lots of attention from the server. The food is the real reason to go to this restaurant anyhow! But, like somebody else posted, eat your meal and then tour the grounds! It's a very cool resort.

Great point! We usually go around 7:30 and it's always really crowded, which means our server's really busy too.
