I am trying to get into CSR and there is no avalibility, so I booked POFQ with the Visa. The CM told me to keep trying back, that something may open at CSR. Is there any better time to call? Has anyone had luck with rooms becoming availible? :confused3

I think it's just the luck of the draw. I am still trying to get a standard room at CR for next spring. I have just called periodically and so far no luck. But I also check on WDW website for availability to see if new room categories open up. Sometimes hotels, especially convention ones, will block off rooms for conventions and then when the deadline passes for the conventioners to book the rooms they open up for the rest of us. I suspect that may be part of my problem for next spring at the CR.

Another problem is that they are planning to tear the North Wing down, cutting the amount of standard rooms by 50%. Getting a standard room at the CR was hard in the past, but after Oct. 1, it should be near impossible.

Does anyone know if Disney holds rooms at CSR for conventions, when they release them to the public if they are not booked?

You said it! I am pretty doubtful that I will get a standard room. Currently I have AAA discount on my garden view, but that's still pricey.

Yesterday, I tried all day for CSR- nothing. I just called to check again and I was able to get CSR standard. (12/14 - 12/17)

So just keep trying if you really want it - I think I was hold for about 40 minutes but that's what speaker phones are for - right???

Good luck.

Please note that my answer is eight years old. Back then the answer was if there is a convention booked, it can be as much up to the convention as the hotel, as some conventions have RSVP's of 30 days out while some might have it for 5 days out. Also back then CSR did not guarantee most conventions that X number of rooms would be held at the convention rate except for long-time proven convention attendances where no matter what they were going to get at LEAST X number of people. At the time I think they said only something like 2 conventions fell under that category.

I have no idea how much of this info is still accurate but maybe it'll give a little insight as to how they MIGHT do it now. :confused3
