Best time to book for October 2012

So what would you do if you were me?

Get the AP and hope that a discount comes that would be applicable towards HRH club level, and for a discount for BMG?

Or....

Just wait and hope that a discount comes out for the HRH Club level room I already have reserved....and then buy tickets from UT and BMG tickets from either AAA or Universal?

Option 2.

I used to be an AP holder. But we didn't go last year, so I let my pass expire. We're going back this October and currently booked at the SMSM rate. I plan to check for cheaper AAA or AP rates, and if I find either, change my reservation to the new rate. If I get a cheaper AP rate, I'll buy a new AP.

I'll be watching for those rates too - right now I have a weekend booked for HRH Sept 28-30 with AAA.... but we have a member of our party with an AP, so I hope we catch that window (if there is one!)

sunshine, i would buy the AAA membership and use it for the 10% discounts off food and merch in the parks and city walk.

i live in the chgo area and my fees are $40 a year.

keep the smsm rate.
right now it is better than the AAA rate.
i don't think the AAA will drop in room price but the aph sometimes does.

when you see the aph rates are released for your dates, call and ask the TM to work up the total cost for that type of booking.

then make a decision if you want to switch from the promo rate to the aph rate.

only do this is you are comfortable of paying a higher room rate at that time.

then watch to see if the aph rate drops.
at that point, you can call and modify your room costs again.
remember, there are no guarantees that the aph rate will drop for your dates.

but, do it quickly.

for right now, i agree with patster.
stick with the promo rate you have.

start looking for the release of the aph rates in mid-late May.

if you can beat the smsm rate, switch to the ap rate.

mid/late september is low season at the hotels, but you have a weekend stay.
weekends are higher in costs.
