We just returned from our first ever MVMCP and now are looking at attending MNSSHP next September. Looking for opinions on what are the best dates to go in September 2012. We had fantastic luck for our MVMCP ~ not crowded at all ~ and are hoping to hit the same at MNSSHP! When are the crowds less crowded ~ beginning of Sept., middle, end?

There was a thread on here somewhere about it.
We went in 2009 and will next year too. We chose, I believe a Wed or Thur., so we would miss the weekend craziness!

2012 will be our first MNSHHP trip. We're actually booking our trip for Halloween week, which means that if they continue with the Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Halloween schedule, we will have a choice of Sunday, Tuesday or Halloween night which is a Wednesday. Am I correct to assume that going on Halloween is a madhouse?

We went to our first MNSSHP in Oct. We picked a Tuesday night the week before Halloween, and while it was busy - it was not bad. The lines moved pretty quickly, and we had a good time. I do have to say, it was hard to move around between the Haunted Mansion area back towards the Splash Mountain area when everyone started lining up for the parade.

Have a great time!

:) We have been on Oct 31st in 2009 and 2011. Both nights were I am sure sold out. The crowds are there especially when congregating for parades and fireworks. But you will still get to ride everything with short waits. I think the longest we waited for HM was 10 minutes. Maybe 10-15 for BTMR. I mean if you are familiar with the park you can get a lot done. Wait for the second parade and then ride until midnight. The crowd really thins after the second parade. We love going to both parties and thing that MNSSHP is the better of the two, actually.

And yes, we will have tickets for 10/31/12...reservations have been made.

:thumbsup2 I would definitely go on a Tuesday or Thursday night and avoid Friday and Sunday nights if possible. Keep in mind that during Oct on some nights AK will close at 5 or 6, DHS at 7 or 8 and Epcot at 9. If there is a party at MK, and F&W at Epcot....everyone will be leaving AK, MK and DHS at closing and will be funnelling in to Epcot to mix with F&W crowds. You will need to plan accordingly especially if you want an ADR at Epcot. After 7 Epcot will be busy. Epcot has had evening EMH on Friday nights during late Oct the last few years. So while the MK has a party til MN, Epcot will probably have EMH, too.

We went to the first MNSSHP this year, which was in early Sept. Worked out really great for us. I think we waited 20 minutes to get our photo op with Capt. Jack Sparrow. No one knew he was going to be there until he showed! DH and I were going to ride POTC just about the time the party started, meandered by and there he was! Without much line! W00T!

The good: not that crowded at all. Everything is fresh and new and fun. Also, it's cheaper.

The bad: if you are in costume and the costume has any weight at all, it will be hot! DH is going as the wizard Harry Dresden next time we visit (2013) leather duster and all. He expects to melt directly into the sidewalk before we are done. We may even go a week or so later just on the feeble hope that a cool front might move through and knock the heat down a few degrees!

Thank you for your experience advice! I was a little worried about the temps, but we want to go for DD's birthday since MVMCP was for DS this year. We got Captain Jack Sparrow already ~ but I don't think there is ever too many photos with him, is there? pirate:

What date did you go? I'm going sept 3rd to 17th next year and hope I'll be able to go to a party...

We were at Disney the 9th thru the 17th, but we did two Universal days. The first party was on Tuesday the 13th.

Capt. Jack hadn't done autographs for about 3 years when we got ours and only did the MNSSHP, so yeah. Very rare. :goodvibes

We got a bunch of photo ops and even some candy - we only did candy if there wasn't a wait. Why spend time waiting for .50 worth of candy at something we'd paid $50 each for? Saw the parade, saw the fireworks, did the Haunted Mansion. Many, many photo ops.

It was a ton of fun and not very crowded. My only caveat is that it is HOT. Make sure your costume is Florida friendly or be prepared to sweat. (I made mine Florida friendly. Took off the petticoat and wore my Toms instead of boots. . .)

I've read on some other threads that the Villians may or may not do autographs during MNSSHP. Has anyone EVER gotten them to autograph DURING the party?

I read that the villains will pose for pictures but will not sign autographs. We are hoping to get a family photo with Frollo this Halloween. Our last name if Frollo.

We plan on attending the 1st party this year.... never been before. It looks like the first date is Sept 11th this year.

I will be riding a scooter, so incorporating that into my costume... I will be wearing my pjs, slippers (the kind with indoor/outdoor soles), a robe with MICKEY embroidered on it (which can be removed if I get too hot)... and my scooter is going to look like a bed.... if I can ever figure out how to do that ...

Since I wear glasses (and need them to find my way around)... I started thinking... what do you do in bed with your glasses still on? READ!! I got a headlamp and book.... My Costume is reading in bed!!
